Image Credit: Todd Williamson/WireImage.comRonni Chasen — a veteran publicist who has represented Oscar-winning composers like Hans Zimmer and John Williams, and filmmakers like Jim Sheridan and Richard D. Zanuck — was shot to death in her car early Tuesday morning in Beverly Hills, Calif. after leaving the premiere of Burlesque. She was 64 years old. The L.A. County coroner’s office confirmed with EW that Chasen was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and pronounced dead upon arrival. An investigation is ongoing.
“It’s very shocking,” songwriter Diane Warren, a longtime client of Chasen, told EW. “I was with her at the Burlesque premiere. I saw her just before she got in her car. It could have been any of us.” Warren says she got the news this morning from producer Donald De Line. “This is just f—ing insane. I don’t want to use the word ‘was’ with her. She’s a great person. Probably the most loved person in this town. She’s the best there is. Who would want to hurt her? Nobody would want to hurt her. Did someone follow her from [the premiere]? Did they want to steal her car? It’s utterly senseless. I hope [the police] find some answers, but it still won’t bring her back.”

I don’t think it could have been anyone sounds like a hit.
I told her! I warned her not to go see ‘Burlesque’ because that movie is so bad and terrible, that people will die after seeing it. What a horrible film, took the life of an amazing woman. One of the best people in Hollywood died because of this god-awful film. RIP!
dud, that was completely tasteless
Maybe Randy Quaid was right! Odd story, and very sad.
I thought the same thing when I read the headline. Very very sad and very very strange.
What did Randy Quaid say?
This does sound like a hit. I read elsewhere that she was shot five times. Very tragic indeed.
Crime is raising everywhere in LA. Santa Monica resident was RAPPED at 2.00 PM when she walking in a busy street. Two men kidnapped her and then released her in West LA. Venice also is having an important increase of crime.
I just want to know if we have enough police on the streets, because this is getting out of control
Hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife.
There’s been an increase in shootings and crimes in DC too, what is going on! So sad, my heart goes out to her family and friends.
She was rapped? Another reason to hate that music.
Well played!
rapping is nothing to joke about!
This comment chain has been quite the laughing stock….
like.
This is terrible!!
This is very sad. I go by the intersection she was at all the time. It’s very strange to think this happened there.
This does not sound like a random crime. Shot five times in the chest with no rape or car jacking. This was done by–or hired done–by someone who knew her and had one hell of grudge.
My sympathies go out to those who knew her.
Why would there be a hit on a 64-year-old publicist? Could have just been some crazed druggie who she might have resisted stealing her purse or car.
Uh, ok, that makes no sense now! Just delete this one too along with the 50 other comments that were deleted.
