Katherine Heigl’s rep confirms to EW that the actress has dropped out of filming Adaline, Lakeshore/Kimmel Entertainment’s film about a woman struck by lightening who suddenly cannot age past her 20s. Deadline reports that Heigl, who adopted a daughter late last year, simply was not ready to return to work. The role in the Andy Tennant-directed film will be re-cast as soon as possible.

Go easy folks.
This film sounded intriguing and a good dramatic stretch for Heigl, but family comes first. That’s admirable.
Maybe they’ll cast a younger actress in the role; as beautiful as Heigl is, she’s not really believable as a permanent 20-something. Maybe Emma Stone or Carey Mulligan could take the role.
Carey Mulligan definitely. She is fabulous.
I nominate Anne Hathaway.
I hate her attitude but that aside I think she is a bit “long in the tooth” to be a permanent 20-something. Cher has a fresher face at 73.
Hah I was kind of interested in seeing Angela Lansbury play her daughter.
Awww…were they going to be so meeaaannnnnn and make you work long hours, Katie-poo?
Good for them. I just renewed my, “I don’t give a rats ass”.
Simply not ready to return to work? Heigl needs to GTFOHWTBS. She’s been doing other film stuff since she adopted her daughter. You’d think she carried twins for seventeen months and birthed them through her tear ducts. She used the kid excuse as her reason not to return to Grey’s too. I guess this has nothing to do with the fact that her last few films (Ugly Truth, Killers, Life as We Know It) were flops.
She apparently filmed one movie (Life As We Know It) right after the adoption and felt guilty working the long hours away from her new child. Apparently she continued because that movie was already in the works. I don’t think you can say she’s been doing other films like she’s been working constantly and now just wants to stop. I’m not a Heigl hater or supporter for what it’s worth.
Heigl filmed “One For the Money” this past summer. She’s been working.
Oh wow, I knew that since it was filmed five blocks from where I live. I completely forgot about it, I believe it was this past summer she did that. Well I stand corrected.
all 3 were critical flops, but Ugly Truth was definitely a hit
SHE was fired by Lakeshore.

Isn’t this the director who did The Bounty Hunter? Just saying.
How could that happen? Katie is beautiful, wealthy and never refuses tough roles!
Natalie might do it.
