Jackson wrongful death suit declined by federal judge

Filed under: News and tagged:

The Associated Press reports a wrongful death suit filed by Joe Jackson on behalf of Michael Jackson — who passed away last year — will be handled in a state court after a federal judge declined to hear the case. U.S. District Judge John F. Walter claimed he did not have the authority to rule on the suit — which claims in part that Jackson’s rights were violated under the Americans with Disabilities Act — and felt Jackson would be hard-pressed to get money on one of the causes of action: “I am firmly convinced that you can’t seek damages on this [disabilities act] cause of action,” Walter said. The suit will also likely be paired with Katherine Jackson’s lawsuit against AEG Live.
