HBO confirms that it has renewed two Sunday night comedies. Bored to Death, the private detective comedy starring Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis, and Ted Danson, and Eastbound & Down, the Danny McBride comedy, will each be returning for a third season.

Billy Ray Cyrus and wife Tish — parents to Miley Cyrus — have filed for divorce Wednesday in Tennessee after 17 years together, People reports. The couple, who has five children, cited irreconcilable differences. “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family,” they said in a statement. “We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.”
Rachel Dratch introduces baby's father
Rachel Dratch, who gave birth to a son, Eli Benjamin, on Aug. 24, revealed to People that her boyfriend, John Wahl, a natural foods consultant in California, was her son’s father. The Saturday Night Live alum had initially intended to keep the matter private, until she began reading speculative press reports focusing on the “mystery.” The couple is now living in New York City.
Sacha Baron Cohen sued for alleged 'Bruno' melee
On Tuesday, Mike Skiff filed a lawsuit against Sacha Baron Cohen for more than $25,000 in damages for alleged physical and emotional pain. In the suit, Skiff says his civil rights were violated when he was harassed by Cohen’s Bruno film crew on Nov. 2, 2008 when he attempted to film the comedian in character during a Proposition 8 gay marriage rally in Los Angeles. The lawsuit claims Skiff was threatened by members of Cohen’s crew — who were allegedly attempting to force him to stop filming — with wooden signs, and was shoved and wrestled.
Cohen’s rep has not returned calls for comment.
Hotel Rwanda's Paul Rusesabagina charged with funding terrorism
Paul Rusesabagina, the Rwandan hero whose efforts to save hundreds of his countrymen from genocide were turned into the Oscar-nominated film, Hotel Rwanda, has been implicated by the ruling Rwandan government with funding terrorism activities, according to Reuters. Opposition leader Victoire Ingabire was arrested on Oct. 14 for terrorism activities, and the government claims Rusesabagina helped finance her group’s actions. Ingabire denies the charges against her and claims the accusations are politically based. Rusesabagina, who was played by Don Cheadle in the 2004 film, currently resides in the United States.
'Top Gun 2': There is no sequel without Maverick
There will be no Top Gun 2 without Pete Mitchell. (That’s Maverick to me and you.) Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, who’s brainstorming ideas about resurrecting the Reagan-era, need-for-speed blockbuster, corrected reports that Tom Cruise’s flyboy might not be the star of a new film. In an email to New York Magazine‘s Vulture blog, McQuarrie wrote, “There is no Top Gun 2 in which Maverick is not the starring role.”
'In the Heights' to play final Broadway performance Jan. 9
Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights will play its final Broadway performance Jan. 9 after three years and 1,185 performances. Star Lin-Manuel Miranda will return to the Tony-nominated role of Usnavi for a final run starting on Christmas Day at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
James Cameron makes 'Avatar' sequels his next project
James Cameron is making his Avatar sequels his top priority. According to Variety, Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 will be the blockbuster director’s next projects. The plan is for Cameron to begin writing both sequels early next year, with the eye on release dates of December 2014 and December 2015. “In the second and third films, which will be self-contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc, we will not back off the throttle of Avatar‘s visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters,” the director told the trade.
Casey Affleck, Judd Hirsch join growing 'Tower Heist' cast
Casey Affleck and Judd Hirsch have signed on to the seemingly endless cast of Tower Heist, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The roster of the Brett Ratner-directed action comedy already includes Matthew Broderick, Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Tea Leoni, Gabourey Sidibe, and Michael Pena. The script follows the disgruntled manager (played by Stiller) of a high-end building who leads its workers in planning a heist of the wealthy tower tenant, a Bernie Madoff-like character played by Alda.
'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' director lands new project
CBS films has signed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev to make The Keep, an adaptation of Jennifer Egan’s 2006 best-seller, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The haunting book tells the tale of two cousins who renovate a medieval castle that makes nightmares real. The Danish director’s version of Dragon Tattoo grossed more than $100 million overseas.
