'The Bourne Legacy' coming in August 2012

The Bourne Legacy, the fourth installment in the action thriller series, will open in theaters on Aug. 3, 2012, Universal announced today. That’s a mere 644 days from now, so mark your calendars accordingly.

The Bourne Identity was released in the middle of June 2002, The Bourne Supremacy at the end of July 2004, and The Bourne Ultimatum the first weekend in August 2007. Each film grossed more money at the box-office than its predecessor, but that feat will be tested by the fact that Matt Damon will not star in Legacy.

universal you suck! damon is bourne just like george clooney was NOT batman! also damon is the most cost effective choice, his rate of return on his movies is far higher then say Gerard butler or Jen Aniston-in fact i think he has the best return of all the a-listers-dumb dumb dumb!!!!!!!

How can they make a “Bourne” picture without Matt Damon? This is just another part of the horrific trend to remake or recast (or both) movies that aren’t more than a decade or two old. Hell, “Hulk” is going to have its THIRD Bruce Banner when its on the big screen again. It seems that no one in Hollywood (or the Broadway Stage) have anything to contribute today, save rewrites of screenplays and shows that someone else made successful.

Without Matt Damon, I have no desire to see the new Bourne movie. Matt Damon is the Bourne franchise.

Exactly Sharon. I believe that alot of us feel this way.

No Damon? No Borne! Who then?

Like Damon said, I’m intrigued how they do this. Tony Gilroy is a great writer/director so obviously, he’s got a plan, and remember how fantastic the supporting cast was in the Bourne movies, especially people like Joan Allen, Chris Cooper, and Brian Cox.

No Matt Damon, 5 years between sequels, and an August release date? Doesn’t take a genius to see a bomb in the making.

    No Damon? No interest.

It doesn’t take a Jimmy Kimmel to see that Now…. they’re really Fu#king Matt Damon.

Sure, James Bond has been replaced repeatedly with success, but counting out Matt Damon for Bourne is not the same – he’s young enough, excellent in the role, and the way he’s been ommitted smacks of arrogance – I bad political move that hurts my enthusiasm for the movie. Bring Matt and the other actors back, and you’ll make more money in the end.

Like so many others on this board I am shocked and outraged that Bourne is out! I am worried it won’t be the same!

Hey, Let’s wait and see… When I read The Bourne books I just can’t see Matt Damon. I just see Richard Chamberlain, because of the ’89 tv series:)

There is ample room for three more Bourne movies, if some want to write some serious quality.

Having a Bourne Legacy, is part of this reboot, reprime and show what this new world dis/order will be like.
Hoping to see more Bourne, but the devil is always in the details.
