After months of rumors, Mariah Carey, 41, confirmed on Today that she and husband Nick Cannon, 30, are expecting their first child. The singer, who is keeping her due date under wraps, also revealed that she suffered a miscarriage two years ago. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy,” she told Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush. Carey’s new album, Merry Christmas II You, comes out Nov. 2.

The best part is, go to the iTunes pre order and check out that cover for “Merry Christamas II U” (I’ll wait.) The real HOLIDAY magic is that artwork! That photoshopper should get Xmas cards from her from now til she dies! Hell she wasn’t even that skinny when her first holiday cd came out in 1994.
And normally I wouldn’t be so mean, but I saw her in concert in Philly in January, and she had a flank of guards working the first 15 rows of the theater throwing out anyone who was tkaing pictures of her bloated self. If someone even lifted up a cell phone, they were attacked. I lost alot of respect for her that night. Good luck with the kid cause if they have any of her genes its going to be the biggest diva in the world…male or female.

Entertainers don’t really use pregnancies to promote albums since the pregnancy can make it difficult to work and travel as much as they need to.

While I’m happy for her, I find it pathetic that she’d finally confirm she’s pregnant five days before her album is dropping.
I agree that the timing is rather “convenient” in terms of her new album release. I guess I can understand why she dropped out of “For Colored Girls” given she may have feared a miscarriage, however perforning in heels and almost busting your ass, as 5 handlers keep you in place is just as detrimental. And while I would like to say that Mariah will indeed be a good mother; with all the “Diva” antics we’ve witnessed in the past and pampered behavior she’s displayed on her own (See her episode of MTV’s “Cribs”), I too think this poor child will be raised by her wife Nick and the Nannies. Some people just aren’t meant to breed.
Don’t be mean to Nick. He doesn’t deserve it. Marrying a horrible Diva that you’ve idolized since childhood doesn’t make you a bad person. Now…taking advantage of someone’s lifelong crush on you on the other hand…

People are so skeptical. Ugh. You think she won’t raise this kid? She takes her dogs everywhere with her. You think she won’t take her child? She was extremely close to her mother and had an absentee father. You don’t think she’ll want this child to know its parents? No question Mariah is pampered and kind of a diva, but if you think she doesn’t want a close relationship with her child after the upbringing she had? I think that’s pessimism of the highest order.
If anything she’ll pamper and spoil this kid as much as she is pampered and spoiled herself. But I don’t believe for a second that she’ll be a “hands-off” or absentee parent.
I think that Mariah is ready to be a mother and will take good care of her child as well as change the diapers. That diva image of hers that we’re used to seeing she keeps on the stage. She and Nick Cannon will be a great mom and dad to their child! Can’t wait to see what the new baby will look like if People or any of the magazines gets the chance to get the cover story and front page!

I’m surprised at all the mean comments for a woman who is announcing her pregnancy. That’s supposed to be a joyous thing. Have a little compassion for the fact that she had a miscarriage. Also, it’s no one’s business to make judgments on the kind of mother she’ll be. How about some good wishes for someone who has been trying to have a baby for a while now and will finally become a mother? I hope she has a healthy baby and wish her and her husband well.
