My friends’ daughter is about Katy’s age. She died in a car accident this morning. There’ll be no wedding planning in their future. They’ll be making plans to bury their only daughter. They’re a Christian couple and I’m sure they’d rather attend their daughter’s Hindu wedding ceremony instead of planning her funeral. Sometimes I read the comments on this board and I shake my head. It’s not newsworthy but…it IS newsworthy because it’s perfectly representative of the mediocre times in which we live, when just about anyone can be a “celebrity,” no matter how untalented they are. Of course Russell’s a fairly unfunny “comedian” and of course Katy’s the “flavor of the month” as far as pop tarts go. Will either one of them ever be considered “great” in their respective fields. HIGHLY doubtful. But so what? The world of entertainment is and always has been chock-full of people who didn’t deserve NEARLY the attention the public and the media gave them. I mean, if we were just looking for talent, Adam Sandler would still be working at Burger King! So forget the idea of them being untalented as being relevant. The fact is that they are…(cough, sputter)…..”in love”…..(laugh, sputter, laugh again) and they plan to live their lives together “’til death do us part.’” Or at least until Thanksgiving, according to Vegas oddsmakers.
