Robert DeNiro and crime writer Richard Price have sold a police drama script to CBS called Rookies, which follows a team of six new officers who are sent into high-crime areas, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Price and DeNiro worked together on the film Mad Dog & Glory, but Price is known best in television for his work on The Wire.

When looking at most of his past films, (and future films, *cough* Meet the Parents 3 *cough*), I highly suggest he star in the drama. Jack Nicholson should suck up his pompousness and go to TV too. There’s some good and popular stuff out there now. It’s different then it was even ten years ago
Wow, Price wrote Clockers and Sea of Love and Ransom. And then you mix in DeNiro; nice.
And this show should have a supporting role for Betty White. And if not her how about Carol Burnett.
CBS buys any drama that involves solving cases every week.
There was a show from 1972-76 called The Rookies. A pre Charlie’s Angels Kate Jackson was one of the stars along with Georg Stanford Brown and Michael Ontkean. It’s beginning to look like there is nothing new under the sun. Certainly not on network tv.
I was just thinking there was a gaping hole in the TV landscape for a copy show. Good job tinseltown…
