Tony Gilroy told Hollywood Elsewhere that he’ll write and direct a fourth Jason Bourne film, but that Bourne himself — i.e., Matt Damon — would not be featured in the upcoming Bourne Legacy. “The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal,” Gilroy says. “Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy…the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return [down the road].”

I don’t know. I’d love another Bourne movie with Matt Damon but it’s called Bourne Legacy. So I’ll hold out hope and see what happens. It’s the legacy of what happened with Bourne and if it’s done well it could be good. It also allows for Bourne to return later. It’s a world that is already created and there’s room for expansion. Don’t forget people had given up on Matt Damon pre-Bourne and now he’s box office gold.

I call lame. Matt Damon is pretty great in these films and I don’t give a damn about another character. Frankly, they are just trying to maximize success on a franchise that doesn’t even have the star in it. LAME and very Hollywood.

You cannot have a movie with the name Bourne in the title and not have Jason Bourne in the movie. Also, Matt Damon is Jason Bourne. There is no substitutes! Scrap this movie ASAP!!!
It’s kinda like “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within” back in 2001. It had Final Fantasy in the title but nothing to do with Final Fantasy at all…

God enough with the Chris Pine hype. He was JUST OK in Star Trek. It’ll be a few more years before he can really stand in Shatner’s space boots. Only other thing he’s done is the *trailer* to Unstoppable, which isn’t even out yet.
As for Bourne without Bourne, I say booo. Love Tony Gilroy but I’ll be staying home.

Are they saying that the character of Jason Bourne won’t be in the film, or that Matt Damon won’t be playing Bourne in the film? Despite the fact that Robert Ludlum did not write Bourne Legacy book, Jason Bourne is still the protagonist.
Risky. Very risky. And I’m sure it will be good and an awesome set-up. But it won’t be successful.
Color me intrigued.
I get the frustration by most of the Bourne fans, but with the right script this can actually be good…either way I may not be in the theater to watch this but I will watch, and save my judgments for later.
