Scream‘s Courteney Cox and David Arquette have announced they have separated after 11 years of marriage. The pair released a joint statement today saying, “We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time. The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage. We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go though this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together. We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well.” The couple has one daughter Coco, 6.

Yet another heterosexual couple with all the benefits they get making a mockery of marriage while same sex couples are not able to get legally married. PLUS they’ve got a child involved. Disgusting.
It’s not their fault gays can’t marry! Why do you think they are making a mockery of marriage? I guess you think couples should stay in a bad marriage.
No where do they suggest its a “bad marriage”. In fact the whole announcement reeks of selfishness and immaturity. They have A CHILD. Unless one is abusive there is NO inkling that this is a bad marriage. Its just another hetero couple wrecking their kids lives and moving on to the next bed and benefits just because they can.
@AcaseofGeo You don’t know the details of their marriage or why they are really separating. If gay people could get married everywhere I’m sure there would be just as many gay divorces. I don’t know why the hell you’re bringing up gay marriage anyway (and yes, i’m gay).
Why is a divorce being made into a gay issue? Just because a couple gets a divorce doesn’t mean its making a mockery of marriage. I actually have no problem with gay marriage, but don’t use the fact that an 11 year marriage ended as a reason to decry heterosexuals being married.

@AcaseofGeo – Actually, I have known just as many gay couples (who were married in Canada and lived their lives like any hetero couple) that have divorced as I have known hetero couples that are divorcing. Gay, straight, whatever it doesn’t matter.. anyone can and will get a divorce if thats what they want to do!

There is an episode where both Cox and “the other chick” go to the dermatologist to get botox. They are not really hiding that they get work done. Plus when Christa Miller was on Scrubs half the jokes made about her involved plastic surgery. Just saying, they aren’t denying it and they don’t really care what you think.

David Arquette was on the Howard Stern Show recently and it was clear that something was up in his marriage.
You thought so? I heard David Arquette on Superfan Celeb Roundtable on Friday and he seemed perfectly happy to me but any Stern fan would be happy talking about the show.
Weird, since they’ve always joked that working on the Scream movies chronicled their relationship. They met on the first one, dated in the second, were married by the third, and now I guess they split up around the fourth one. Sad to hear, I really liked them together.

But Arquette was in that wrestling movie and won the WCW title for real.. Comon Wrestling title vs. Friends. It’s not like Freinds was one of the most iconic show of it’s time or anything.
She has been more successful from the start. I think if that was the issue, they wouldn’t have lasted through the Friends years…
Possibly not relevant, but “Cougar Town” is one of those sitcoms I can’t watch for more than 90 seconds or so, because it’s so damned stupid. Ditto, “Two and a Half Men.”
Damn, this really saddens me because from the start of teir coupling while making “Scream”, I always loved them together. However, what transpires behind closed doors is entirely between them and I really wish them the best and hope they find happiness either reuniting or going their seperate ways. All I can say is the “Scream 4″ premiere is going to be a little awkward with reporters.
I agree with others about caring less about Hollywood marriages, but I feel bad about this one. I remember when they were on 20/20 with Barbara Walters and were discussing infertility and Courtney’s miscarriages. They seemed like such a strong unit.
