gay originally and still means happy. queer means odd or different. the homosexual community has used both terms to describe themselves. therefore as time passed gay can mean odd. the point is i would think gays would see this as becoming more of the popular mainstream since their own vernacular has been added to everyday slang. as others have said, there are plenty of other terms used everyday that no one even blinks an eye at. if you want to be part of the mainstream, that includes the being incorporated into everyday language. i can’t imagine anyone involved meant this as an insult.

Ridiculous. Restriction of free speech is profound. Let people decide what they won’t & will see. Bad move to remove it. What’s next? “Oh My God.” WE won’t be able to say God anymore …

Like I said, we can be all for free speech but some things have a real impact on society and theres a difference between forbidding “omg” on religious grounds, and respect for a minority that is discriminated against. Yes, black people used to be degraded in movies with small jokes that seemed normal and pretty funny, until people understood that it created more discrimination. To some extent, you could see a similarity here.

Get over yourselves! It is a recognised use of the word and he explains what he means.
