Lil Wayne was relocated today to a “punitive segregation” cell at Rikers Island, where he is currently serving a one-year sentence for a weapons conviction, according to multiple outlets. The 28-year-old Grammy-winning rapper received this punishment—which is the equivalent of solitary confinement and requires him to be in his cell 23 hours a day—after guards discovered headphones and a charger for a MP3 player in his cell back in May. A representative for Lil Wayne did not immediately respond to EW.com’s request for comment. Lil Wayne is scheduled to be released on Nov. 4.

if i was in jail that would be all i needed music- such a shame that talent is waisted with bad choices and bad behavior hope he learns his lesson
…and I hope you learn how to spell one day.
…and I hope you learn that the internet is such serious business one day.
Uh, what talent are you talking about? I don’t notice any from Lil Wayne.
I think lil wayne has more talent in his pinky toe than you could ever have. I bet you couldn’t spit anything. If you did it would be really gay.
I was in state prison in PA. everybody was allowed radios,headphones..etc…I’m surprised he didn’t busted for weed….He’s a real talent and the system sucks…….
Just because someone is talented doesn’t mean they are above the law. He was arrested and put on trial, he was found guilty and is in prison. I don’t see how that “sucks”. Most celebs get off easy and one year isn’t even so bad. If he was a nobody he would’ve gotten much worse. I wish americans would realize we shouldn’t be idolizing convicts and drug addicts just because they are famous.
Liza, if you put down someone’s views, make sure they are not similar to your own.
He was saying he realizes Carter made the wrong choice and hopes this wakes him up that he could have gotten far worse.
Actually, no he didnt. Where in rm scott’s statement did he say that Lil Wayne made the wrong choice and hopes his prison term is a wake-up call? He said the system sucks – inferring that it was the system that put Weezy in jail, and not his own actions.
Actually, Nix, you’re assuming the inference of what rm scott meant. You can’t know, as the statement is completely vague, especially when seen in light of the context of the first sentence where he stated that, while incarcerated, he had a privilege Wayne was denied.
It really didn’t seem like he agreed with what I was trying to say at all. I think he is being sympathetic towards Lil Wayne instead of holding him accountable for his actions. It’s not “system” that put him in jail, it was his own poor choices.
All I want to know is..how is that Lil Wayne was convicted of having that gun when there were at least 15 other people on that bus. How did they determine ownership. Charge one charge them all. But of course they only care about him because he is high profile. That sucks !!! Same in the case of M. Vick. We didn’t hear about anyone else getting arrested or busted. He wasn’t alone but all they cared about was him because he was high profile. He did more time for killing dogs than some people do for murder. All I’m saying is…. arrest everyone if you want to be fair not just one person because the are a celebrity and you are looking for the high profile bust
You dont know the specifics of the case, nor do you know where they found the gun. Regardless, there shouldnt have been a weapon onboard in the first place. Celebrities are certainly more visibile and more likely to being targeted, however their lives are filled with so much more opportunity and fortune…so dont feel too badly. If you want to stay out of jail, dont break the law. Seems pretty basic.
Actually, the details of the case are very public, and it does appear that Lil Wayne was unfairly targeted. I am not defending his actions or choices, and I am sure that there are other crimes that he is guilty of. However, he does not deserve to be in jail for this particular weapon charge.
Nix, your theories seem very short sighted. Life, crimes, and penalties are not as cut and dry as “if you want to stay out of jail, dont break the law.” I grew up in an urban area full of people (some of which are very intelligent) whose lives were destroyed by socioeconomic factors, an unbalanced legal system, and authoritative figures who abused their power and were very judgmental and short-sighted. I have seen many people do to jail who did not break the law.
*go to jail who did not break the law
This seems harsh to me.. Solitary for 23 hours a day because of headphones? That type of punishment should be reserved for violent criminals. I can see a day in the hole. I don’t belive all the facts are being told. Either he got into fights, and lots of them, he tried to kill somebody or he was put into protective custody out of fear for his life. I can’t belive somebody who was doing a year for gun posession has to serve in solitary condfidment because he got caught with headphones.
well im in love wit him and its nt the music or the money im jst in love wit him and i cant wait till he gets out i go to all his concerts im his biggest fan and for yall to sit here and talk about him yall need to get a life and stop sittin around talkin bout somebody!!!!!!!!! who are uu to judge anybody????
please we fans of lil wayne are beg in the court to reduce the time
