James Franco to write, direct, and star in 'The Adderall Diaries'

EW has confirmed that James Franco has purchased the rights to Stephen Elliott’s The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir of Moods, Masochism, and Murder. The book is a drugged-out chronicle of a murder trial that also doubles as the memoir of writer suffering from two years of writer’s block. (Deadline first reported the story.) Franco plans to write the adaptation, direct, and act in the film through his own production company, Rabbit Bandini.

I never thought I’d see the day Hollywood would adapt a Stephen Elliott book. I wonder if they’ll actually keep anything approaching the subjects he writes about, which are extreme, to say the least
