Tim Burton casts Winona Ryder in 'Frankenweenie'

Categories: Movies

Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Martin Short, and Catherine O’Hara have been cast in Tim Burton’s stop-motion animation Frankenweenie, Deadline reports. The story revolves around a man who reanimates his dog. The film, scripted by John August, is due out in 2012. It’s based on a live-action short Burton shot while a 25-year-old animator at Disney. Reviewing the video release in 1992, EW said, “A black-and-white homage to old horror flicks, the movie has a parodistic plot that plays out a primal suburban-childhood nightmare: What if I threw my beloved pet the ball just a little too hard and he got hit by a car while trying to retrieve it?”

Judge issues bench warrant for Lindsay Lohan, actress settles E*Trade lawsuit

Categories:

Lindsay Lohan, who recently admitted to failing one drug test, must now appear in court on Friday for a judge to determine whether or not she’ll go back to jail. Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden Fox issued a bench warrant, the fourth in the DUI probation case, for Lohan Monday, requiring she show in person for the court hearing or face arrest. Lohan’s failed court-ordered drug test could result in a 30-day jail sentence for the actress. Lohan, 24, who previously served 13 days in jail, has admitted to failing one test, and reportedly failed at least two — one for cocaine, and the other for amphetamines.

Also Monday, Lohan settled her $100 million lawsuit with E*Trade Financial Corp, who she claimed modeled a “milkaholic” baby after her for a commercial. Though terms of the settlement are not available, court records show the actress yanked the suit.

Paris Hilton pleads guilty to misdemeanors, avoids jail

As anticipated, Paris Hilton has avoided jail time by pleading guilty to two misdemeanors in court, People reports. The socialite pleaded guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer, two charges that stemmed from her Aug. 28 arrest in Las Vegas. Hilton will be placed on probation for one year, and faces jail time if she’s arrested one more time within the year. She will also complete a substance abuse program and 200 hours of community service, and will pay a $2,000 fine.

In court today, Hilton admitted to the judge that she had lied when she claimed the purse and cocaine inside were not hers. The Clark County Detention Center Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure told the reality star, “The purpose here is to change your conduct. Lindsay Lohan: 'Inferno' director and producer taking wait-and-see approach

Categories: Movie Biz

The director of Lindsay Lohan‘s next film, Inferno, tells the L.A. Times he is unsure whether her latest bout of legal troubles will affect the project. Matthew Wilder, who is directing Lohan in Linda Lovelace biopic Inferno, said in an email to the paper that he is waiting for the results of her next court hearing, which could send her back to jail if she has failed a drug test. “Let’s see what the judge says,” Wilder told the Times.

Meanwhile, Inferno producer Chris Hanley spoke to People and expressed his support for the actress. “We do believe that Lindsay’s talent does weigh very heavily in this matter,” Hanley tells People. “Addictive personality disorder issues are pervasive in the film industry. I have worked with Robert Downey and others on movies I have made, and, frankly, talent and passion for a project matter the most to me.”

Inferno was scheduled to begin shooting in November.
