'The Big Bang Theory' cast gets a big, fat raise

Sources confirm that the stars of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory have successfully negotiated major pay raises from the show’s producer, Warner Bros. TV. Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco will get $200,000 an episode for the fourth season (compared to about $60,000 last season). Their paychecks will then spike to $250,000 per episode in season five, $300,000 in season six, and $350,000 in season seven. The actors will also each receive .25 point of the show’s back-end and over $1 million as an advance, plus another $1 million for the seventh season. Ka-ching.

'Big Brother 12' contestant's Arkansas home damaged in early morning fire

Big Brother 12 jury member Britney Haynes’ Little Rock, Ark., home was damaged in a fire early this morning, according to the Little Rock Fire Department. Fire crews responded to a call at the home, which Hayes shares with her fiancé Nick Grisham, at 1:32 a.m. Wednesday. An outdoor grill is believed to have caused the blaze, the department told EW. Damages are estimated to be around $50,000, according to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Little Rock FD would not confirm the figure. CBS has yet to return calls for comment regarding Haynes’ scheduled appearance on tonight’s finale.

Edwin Newman, newsman, dead

NBC newsman Edwin Newman has passed away, the Associated Press reports. Newman, the author of best-sellers Strictly Speaking and A Civil Tongue, was 91 years old.

A NBC broadcaster for over 30 years, Newman reported for such programs as Today, The Nightly News, and Meet the Press, and is known for announcing John F. Kennedy’s death via radio. He also anchored the series Speaking Freely, and penned and narrated documentaries like 1966′s Politics: The Outer Fringe and 1965′s Who Shall Live?.

People is reporting that Real Housewives of D.C. personality Michaele Salahi has multiple sclerosis. The 44-year-old told People that she kept her illness a secret for 17 years because “No one wants to be seen as sickly. And I didn’t want to be pitied.”

Casey Affleck settles sexual harassment cases

Casey Affleck has settled two sexual harassment cases with women who worked on the production of the Joaquin Phoenix documentary he directed, I’m Still Here. Producer Amanda White and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka had both sued the Oscar-nominated actor for at least $2 million each, based on claims of unwanted sexual advances and a hostile workplace, among other outrageous behavior. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the parties agreed to mediate privately a few weeks ago, leading to a resolution that preserved credit for White’s and Gorka’s work on I’m Still Here. “The disputes between Flemmy Productions, LLC and Casey Affleck with Amanda White and Magdalena Gorka in connection with the film I’m Still Here have been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties, and the lawsuits are being dismissed,” according to a joint statement provided by Affleck’s camp. Financial terms were not disclosed.

MTV orders two comedy series: 'That Girl' and 'Death Valley'

MTV is adding two new scripted shows to its slate, giving series orders to the coming-of-age comedy That Girl and the horror comedy Death Valley, according to Variety. That Girl, which is only the show’s tentative title, focuses on a 15-year-old girl (Ashley Rickards) who becomes the center of attention after her classmates mistakenly think she tried to commit suicide, while the documentary-styled Death Valley follows a branch of the Los Angeles Police Department that fights vampires, werewolves, and zombies (oh my!). Both shows, which have each been picked up for 12 episodes, are scheduled to debut next year.

Billie Mae Richards, voice of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, dies at 88

Billie Mae Richards, 88, the voice actress who played the title character in the 1964 animated TV classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, died Sept. 10 of stroke in Burlington, Canada, according to Variety. The Toronto actress started her career in theater at a young age and switched to radio and voiceover work upon discovering her knack for imitating the voice of a boy. Richards was in her early 40s when she voiced Rudolph in the stop-motion animated special, which has since become the longest-running Christmas TV special and a holiday tradition for many families. “I’m just so glad that my kids, my grandkids, my great-grandkids, and probably my great-great-grandkids will see Rudolph,” Richards said in a 2005 interview for Filmfax magazine. Richards is survived by four children and 12 grandchildren.

No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal and girlfriend expecting first child

No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal, 40, and his girlfriend, actress Erin Lokitz, are expecting their first child early next year, according to a statement on the band’s website. “We’re feeding our baby a healthy diet of Bob Marley, The Clash, Prince, and, of course, No Doubt!” says Kanal in the statement, which is accompanied by a photo of Lokitz’ baby bump wearing a set of headphones.

Brandon Flowers, wife expecting baby

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers is expecting his third child with wife Tana, People reports. The new baby will join older siblings Gunnar, 13 months, and Ammon, 3. The news comes shortly after Flowers released his first solo album, Flamingo.

Harold Gould, 'Mary Tyler Moore' actor, dead

Harold-GouldImage Credit: Ryan Miller/Getty ImagesHarold Gould, the actor who played Rhoda’s father Martin Morgenstern on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda, has passed away, the New York Times reports. The actor — who died of prostate cancer — was 86 years old.

Gould was well-known for his work in other sitcoms, like The Golden Girls, in which he played a widower who romanced Betty White’s Rose. The actor was also active on film, appearing in such movies as 1973′s The Sting, 1975′s Love and Death, and 1976′s Silent Movie. Among some of his other television credits: The Donna Reed Show, St. Elsewhere, Dallas, Perry Mason, The King of Queens, L.A. Law, Hawaii Five-0, Soap, The Love Boat, Mister Ed, That Girl, and Hogan’s Heroes.

“He was one of the dearest, kindest, most wonderful people you’d ever want to meet,” Rhoda star Valerie Harper told EW. “And he was a terrific actor…He’s what any girl would want as a father. And I got to have him. It’s a dimmer world without Harold.”
