Lindsay Lohan can post bail, leave jail: Reports

A Los Angeles judge has ruled actress Lindsay Lohan may post bail and leave jail, according to People The Mean Girls star was taken into custody on Sept. 24 after another judge ordered her back to jail without bail for testing positive for drugs, a violation of the terms of her probation stemming from a 2007 drunken driving conviction. But later in the day, Judge Patricia Schnegg granted a writ of habeas corpus and set bail for $300,000 after Lohan’s attorney filed an appeal. She is due back in court for a hearing on her probation violation on Oct. 22. Lohan spent 23 days in a court-ordered drug rehab program last month, following a 13-day jail stint ordered for a previous probation violation.

Mean time, it’s us who live in L.A. that have to pay financially every time this dumb a$$ ends up in court.. if She ever kills somebody while DUI, I hope the family sues her, the lawyers, the judge, and the California judicial system..

  • thomas

how nice….take another judges good descision and turn it into a mockery….A$$

  • Chad

Let her out. The sooner her self destructive behavior leads to her death the better. Then we won’t have to hear about what a “victim” she is any more. And maybe her b***h of a mom can start screwing up her other kids and shoving them down our throats.

    • cain

The thing is, I don’t care if she kills herself.. But she can harm someone else with her stupidity

    • Aaron

OK, whoa whoa whoa. I just happened to glance on this article and read the comments. I know the girl is a train wreck and she’s in desperate need of some revelatory intervention, but in no way does she deserve to dive. give me a break! how has this girl hurt you in any way, shape, or form? I don’t mean to be ‘holier-than-thou’ but my god, if she pisses you off so much then stop reading about her.

      • cain

Yes, lets give her a break. The California judicial system seems to do that already.. And That’s why she thinks she’s above the law, and continues doing stupid sh@t that lands her in court, and waste taxpayers money

      • Michael

@cain…not wishing death upon someone isn’t giving her a break. It’s merely common human decency. I don’t like this girl and I’m sick of the celebs getting slapped on the wrist while the rest of us would incur the full wrath of the justice system. The justice system failed. I’m not going to wish anyone dead because of it.

      • reason

@cain, she isn’t getting any special treatment, this is how the court system works for everyone, all over the country

    • Aaron

      die*

    • brandy

Wow. Seriously Chad? It’s people like you that are making this even worse.

  • Dave

Why is it always that my thoughtful and serious comments never are posted on this website? If my comment is “poop,” it gets posted 3 times. But when I carefully write a thoughtful comment on a serious subject, it disappears. Meanwhile, loads of spam gets posted, “I love this, so does my boyfriend, we met at blah blah blah…”
    Thanks EW.

    • Anna

You’re not alone. And this has been going on for weeks. You’d think EW would aspire to better than functioning in a perpetual state of SNAFU.

  • John

The judge should force her back into rehab, not jail. Can’t post bail from rehab.

    • bellecat

Word. She should be thrown in Hazelton or Betty Ford for six months until she can get straightened out once and for all. Too bad her mother didn’t do this years ago instead of making excuses for her.

      • Wtf

Her mom is just an enabler the way she sees it, Bad publicity is better then no publicity. Her mom is a total mess herself, the only half normal one is her dad and he’s a recovering addict and felon. Which doesn’t say much about her chances in a future.

  • brandy

What this girl needs is a support system that sticks with her for the long haul. In my opinion, jail isn’t going to make things any better for her. Count me as one who is still rooting for her, just as I would root for any human being to get better.

  • Rob

What’s sad is this is what makes news today, not the 9 marines who died.

    • shawn

Not to be insensitive, while I understand what you’re getting at (and agree), EW.com probably isn’t the right forum to voice this gripe, unless those marines were all pensive vampires or it happened on the set of Glee.

    • mcs

@rob while I sympathize with the soldiers, this is an entertainment site, not a general news site. It isnt their job or role to report military deaths. If general news like cnn covers this and not the deaths, then that is sad.

    • Wtf

Why don’t wejust ship her oversea, let her sleep around with the enemy. Eventually they’ll all die from some “fire crotch” disease.

  • All

This has Anna Nicole Smith written all over

  • ellen

ooooooof course she got bail. typical. poor, innocent people get to rot in prison until court. guilty lohan gets to buy herself out.

    • cheryl

agree…the u.s. court system has become a joke.

  • bringbackrocky

One day she tweets that she’s prepared to face the consequences, the next day she has her lawyer file an appeal so she doesn’t have to face the consequences. She is one seriously messed-up chick, and so is the California judicial system, and so is any one of us who ever pays another dollar to go see one of her movies. Keeping her employed and in the public eye is what will continue to fuel her train wreck of a life.

    • Wtf

Soooo true, so if you plan to do anything stupid that might involve the legal system do it in LA.

    • TJ

Well, this blurb didn’t mention it, but from what I understand the first judge didn’t have the legal right to not set bail on misdemeanor charges, which is why the second judge overturned his decision and set a bail. Since she has money of course she could just post it and get out, but that’s not the fault of the second judge. Most of us would still be in there with a $300,000 bail.
