The Associated Press reports Randy Quaid and wife Evi are facing burglary charges after they were reported living in the guest house of their old home illegally. The property owner informed the Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputy Saturday, and when officials arrived at the home, the Quaids claimed they had owned the residence for nearly 20 years. When the owner, however, showed police records that indicated a client had purchased the home in Santa Barbara, Calif., three years ago, and that the Quaids were responsible for more than $5,000 in damage in the guest home, authorities arrested the couple for felony residential burglary and entering a non-commercial building without consent.
Randy Quaid’s lawyer said the following to EW: “This was a civil matter being handled by Mr. and Ms. Quaid’s civil lawyers in Los Angeles…We will address the issues in court if a criminal case is filed.”
This is their second run-in with the law in the past year — the Quaids were on the run from authorities last September when they were charged with not paying a $10,000+ bill at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, Calif.

When did Randy Quaid turn into a carny?
He took his ‘Cousin Eddie’ role to heart.
LOL
Can you say, “Financial advisor?” sounds like someone did not know how to plan ahead. I feel bad for them, but not sorry. When you have opportunities that afford you a better life, don’t F#@% them up with over-spending. Hell, SAG offers great benefits including 401k’s.
These two have some severe mental problems. Money doesn’t solve this kind of crazy.
It sounds like severe financial problems not severe mental problems.
He was kicked out of a play and the stage in general after his treatment of the rest of the cast, they claim to have owned this property, and they did but several owners ago. They are crazy.
Crazy or drugs?
I don’t know. Can you get that delusional without drugs?
So basically Quaid has turned into the character he played in the “Vacation” movies.
No, that character was likable.
Perhaps the USA needs a social democratic government patterned after Norway, Denmark, etc. You can’t throw everyone in prison!! Times are tough and what is a guy to do if he is broke??
you go to a shelter if you need to, you don’t break into someone elses house and damage it just because you used to own it.
You also don’t run up a ten thousand dollar tab at some ranch then run away.
Well, the guy could start by NOT spending $10,000 that he doesn’t have on a luxury vacation at San Ysidro Ranch…
What about swallowing his pride and asking his brother Dennis for some help? Seems he sure could use it.
LOL what a stupid comment. Yes, spending $10,000 on a luxury vacation is the same thing as not being able to put food on the table. He screwed up and now he’s paying the consequences. That’s life.
Perhaps you should move to Denmark, or Norway. IDIOT
This type of response is why the Quaids continue to do this sort of cr@p over and over again.
You have to wonder what his brother Dennis thinks of his brother’s bizarre behavior. He seems to be keeping his distance, not that I blame him.
What the hell?! We all knew Randy had some ups and downs but I don’t get this one.
It’s a hoax!
That’s right. It’s performance art.
Actually, it seems like Quaid has become the character he played in Independence Day.
You’re being far too kind.
Sh!tter’s full!!!
It sounds like the Quaids are mentally ill. Have you seen pictures of them lately? Crazy eyes.
I’ve been a fan of Randy Quaid since he appeared in “Paper Moon.” I’m sorry this is happening, even if his own fault; he’s an excellent actor. I hope Dennis helps him out and puts him back on the straight and narrow.
I can’t believe some of you are showing sympathy for this loser. I could muster up some, if AND ONLY IF, he didn’t do any damage. But when he “may” have done $5,000 in damage, that is not someone that needs financial assistance and a place to stay. He is doing drugs or just doesn’t give a darn. Jail him this time. Last time he built up a $50,000 bill ata nice resort/hotel. There are lots of inexpensive hotels to do this to, if he wants sympathy.
How much longer before these two wind up in jail?
