According to Reuters, legendary French director Claude Chabrol has died at the age of 80 in Paris. Chabrol, along with his New Wave compatriots Jean-Luc Godard and Francois Truffaut, helped revolutionize French cinema at the end of the 1950s. Both prolific and popular, Chabrol made over sixty films, often psychological thrillers, during his long career. His 1970 movie The Butcher is one of two films that Alfred Hitchcock said he wished he’d made.

    Really sad. A true master.

Almost cried when I read that. He’s probably my favorite French filmmaker. I was waiting on his next film.
