According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Swedish star of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has landed her first English-speaking role. She nabbed the female lead in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes 2, alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Details of her character remain a secret, though the rumor is she’ll be playing a French Gypsy. The Warner Bros. production is slated to begin later this year.

What’s lulzy about this comment is that Robert Downey Jr. is American, playing a Brit and the last female lead was a Canadian playing a Brit. It’s called acting.

She has been in several Swedish-language films and yes, she is a great actress in her native tongue. We will see her abilities translate into English-language films. I’m hoping they do. And yes, she was phenomenal in the two “The Girl…” (haven’t seen the third yet) movies.

Rachel is still in the film, so this article has reported wrong, Rapace isnt the female lead, she just had a role. What I’m most excited about is the rumors Daniel Day-Lewis will play Moriarty.

Too bad Noomi isnt the lead. I normally like Rachel MacAdams but just didnt buy her as the female lead in the first movie and felt no chemistry between her and Downey. Downey and Law had much better chemistry with one another, in my opinion
When I saw Noomi’s name was hoping she was the new lead. Oh well!
Rachel is too adorable for the femme fatale role that requires Zeta-Jones type. She was horribly miscast in SH and I agree that she and RDJ have zero chemistry but, then, who could beat RDJ&Jude Law one? That was hot!

Mycroft is described as having very little drive, yes. He’s also could be considered a spymaster, as well. Just how lazy he’s depicted varies on the story.
