I remember reading that Cammie’s older sister had actually been cast to play Bonnie Blue in “Gone with the Wind”, but by the time they were set to film her scenes, the big sister was then too old for the part! So Cammie got it by default. Can you imagine the anguish of the big sis all these years?
Anyway, Rest in Peace, Cammie, you’ll always be remembered.
Olivia de Havilland is still kicking at 94. It’ll be a great loss when she passes.
RIP, I am sorry for her death, but now I have a reason to watch Gone With the Wind, such an amazing movie!!
I was so sorry to hear of the death of Ms. Conlon this morning. I was in Atlanta a few years ago and she was suppose to appear at Margaret Mitchell’s home, but got delayed. Also it was the same time that my wife and I attended a showing of “Gone With The Wind” in Thomas, GA and got to meet Fred Crane. What a wonderful man. But, it is sad that he gone also. I guess that Olivia de Havilland is probably the only one living from this movie. Fred Crane spoke of her very highly.
They do not make movies like this anymore, and that is a shame.
The actress who played one of Scarlett’s sisters, Carreen O’Hara, is still beautiful and active. Her name is Ann Rutherford. I saw both Cammie King Conlon and Miss Rutherford in Cadiz, Ohio last May (2009). Cadiz is Clark Gable’s birthplace, and the two actresses, plus some of the original Wizard of Oz Munchkins, were there for a 70-year anniversary of both films. Ms. Conlon was very attractive and looked well, as did Ms. Rutherford. I am surprised that Ms. Conlon became ill and passed away. RIP.
