Heidi Montag's plastic surgeon killed in car accident

Dr. Frank Ryan, the plastic surgeon who famously conducted 10 procedures on reality star Heidi Montag, 23, last November, died in a single-car accident yesterday in L.A., People reports. Ryan’s Jeep reportedly swerved off the Pacific Coast Highway and landed on rocks. The 50-year-old doctor was pronounced dead on the scene.

Update: According to People, Ryan was reportedly typing a Twitter message on his phone just before the accident.

Ice-T cleared of traffic charges

Rapper-actor Ice-T (real name: Tracy Marrow), 52, was cleared of traffic charges he was penalized for last month, including driving with a suspended license and invalid insurance, as well as without a seatbelt. Prosecutors blamed the incorrect charges on a DMV clerical error. As Ice-T left the courtroom, he reportedly shouted, “That’s what I’m talking about — dismissed!”

Ice-T currently stars in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Patricia Arquette asks for primary custody of daughter in divorce case

According to People, Medium star Patricia Arquette, who filed for divorce from Thomas Jane (Hung) last Friday, is seeking primary legal and physical custody of the couple’s seven-year-old daughter Harlow. Arquette asked that the court deny Jane any spousal support.

Cast complete for 'Spider-Man' musical

Broadway stars Isabel Keating (The Boy From Oz), Michael Mulheren (Kiss Me Kate), and Gideon Glick (Spring Awakening) will round out the large cast of the highly anticipated Spider-Man, Turn off the Dark, according to Variety. They join lead actor Reeve Carney who will play Spidey. Previews are scheduled for November 14, with a December 21 opening at Manhattan’s Foxwoods Theater. The stage version of Spider-Man springs from the minds of Julie Taymor, Bono, and the Edge.

Hulu may go public

Hulu, the online hub for television addicts with not enough DVR space, may go public as early as this fall, sources tell The New York Times. Hulu executives are said to have begun talks with investment banks about an initial offering that could value the company at more than $2 billion. Hulu was founded in March 2007 as a joint venture between NBC Universal, News Corp., The Walt Disney Company, and Providence Equity Partners.

Zsa Zsa Gabor leaves hospital, decides to stay at home

Zsa Zsa Gabor was released from a Los Angeles hospital Monday afternoon with the intention of remaining at her Bel Air home for “as long as possible,” her publicist tells EW.com. The seriously ill 93-year-old actress and socialite had two blood clots removed over the weekend and, at her request, was read last rites by a priest. The complications stem from a hip replacement surgery in July. Gabor’s publicist, John Blanchette, said that Gabor and her husband, Frederick Prinz von Anhalt, declined the option for a liver surgery that would have given her a 50 percent chance of survival. “They decided that they didn’t want to do any more operations and that they wanted to go home,” said Blanchette, who described Gabor as being “in and out of consciousness.”

'Are We There Yet?' gets 90-episode order

TBS has renewed its new sitcom Are We There Yet?, giving it a 90-episode order, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Ice Cube-produced show, which premiered in June, has averaged 2.8 million viewers per week. With the 10 installments already produced, the show will now hit the magical 100-episode threshold usually required for a syndication deal.

Michael Douglas has throat tumor

Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas announced today that he has a tumor in his throat, People.com is reporting. He will undergo eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation to treat the tumor and says he is “very optimistic” about the outcome. Douglas, 65, will next be seen on screen in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, which is set for release on Sept. 24.

Mel Gibson in minor car accident

Actor Mel Gibson was involved in a car accident in Malibu, Calif. on Sunday evening when he crashed his vehicle into a hillside. Gibson was reportedly unharmed and had a friend pick him up. According to police, alcohol was not believed to be involved in the crash.

ABC orders fourth season of 'Wipeout'

ABC is ordering a fourth season of summer reality series Wipeout, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Next year’s season will feature two new obstacle courses inculding a new “motivator” for the Big Balls. Wipeout has been airing twice weekly this summer at 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
