About those reports that The Last Exorcism was the top film at the box office this weekend? Never mind! In a nail-biter of a finish between two movies no one will likely remember a month from now, Takers ended up besting Exorcism once the revised studio numbers were released. Takers‘ take of $20.5 million puts it just ahead of The Last Exorcism‘s $20.4 million, whereas yesterday’s estimates had Exorcism ahead by $300,000.

So why don’t EW retract rather delete the article named “‘Last Exorcism,’ ‘Takers’ almost tied in $$”? I believe the official receipts are: TAKERS ($20,512,304)and THE LAST EXORCISM ($20,366,613).
Because they are ALMOST tied in race. It is rare that two movies (atleast in spots #1 and 2) are that close in box office numbers.

Because the original article was released on Sunday when they make ESTIMATES of what the box office will be for the weekend. The actuals come out on Monday, and often times differ than the estimates. This is common practice.

i seen the Last Exorcism, it sucked! do not waste ur money on this. all the “scary” parts are what u see in the previews….
Maybe because you can’t take back news? I’ve never known any publication that removed false news once it’s been proven. They either give updates or new information. They never take information back. Once it’s out it’s out. It maybe an ethics thing, but it should apply to anyone.

Up in the Air pulled in over $80 million because of him. How is he NOT a box office force?
Because outside of the Ocean’s movies (which also star actual box office draws Brad Pitt and Matt Damon) that $80million opening is Clooney’s best in a loooong time.
