Fantasia Barrino performed an unexpected concert Friday night at the release party for her new album, Back to Me, at Las Vegas’ Rain Nightclub, People reports. The singer, who recently attempted suicide, sang four songs (including her “Bittersweet” and Prince’s “Purple Rain”) and talked to the crowd about moving forward with her career. “They thought I was finished,” Barrino told the crowd. “I was in the hospital, but now I bounce back. Don’t ever let your haters stop you. Don’t ever let them stop your destiny.”

This woman grosses me out, tries to kill herself, and says something like “I had nothing to live for”, I bet that makes her little girl feel real good. Then she’s all over the place doing interviews. Don’t worry fantasia nobody is going to want to watch that sex tape.
Fantasia is an AMAZING singer…she doesn’t just sing, she SANGS! lol…I love “I’m Doin’ Me” and “The Thrill Is Gone” from her new album!
This makes alot of sense. Approx 2 weeks after trying to kill herself she’s doing interviews and holding impromptu concerts. Why not hold up somewhere secluded and get yourself some REAL help. This amazes me. I’ll be shocked if she makes it to 35.
So True. Most people take years to recover from an attempted suicide. You kind of wonder if this wasn’t all a staged publicity event.
considering she OD’ed on aspirin, i’d say that this was just a wee bit of a stunt…she may very well be heartbroken and embarrassed about her tryst with married mister, but come on…her new album was about to be released.
I hope Tasia lives a long time.She will learn from her mistakes. At least she knows that this is not a perfect world.
I commend Fantasia for getting back out there and performing. What she did was scary, but she has said that music is therapy for her and performing on stage is what she needs to do to take her mind off of that. I’m sure she’ll get help,as one writer stated, but we need to put our focus back on her music and hearing her sing and perform her songs! Her Back to Me album is superb with its classic soul feel.
This story wouldn’t even have been reported had she not attempted suicide.
Words of wisdom! Time will tell if suicide attempt = sales. Lord knows she has generated enough publicity from all this.
