After taking the summer off to recover from heart surgery, Barbara Walters will return to The View for its 14th season premiere. And things promise to get interesting early: The Associated Press reports that CBS’ Late Show host David Letterman will be the show’s guest for the Sept. 7 opener. It will be Letterman’s first appearance on the show.

Don’t worry–she still looked 112 when she came back a couple of weeks ago, just for one show, because Obama was the guest.
I am not surprised. David did the same thing for Live With Regis and Kelly when Regis came back from his heart surgery.

Used to be a fan of Dave’s (like so many that he lost in the last few years). He must really be in trouble if he’s stooping this low.
Lettermen isn’t stooping low since his first network talk show was during the day which he won an emmy for. As far as him appearing on The View and Live with Regis and Kelly he is showing appreciation since Walters and Regis appeared on his show after his heart suragry
Stooping so low? The View is a top rated show and creates buzz whenever it has a “big-name guest”.

Dave loves Barbara. She’s been on his show many times. It seems natural that this is something he’d do.
I love David Letterman. I love his humor, and prefer him over all the others. I’ll be watching this View.
I love watching the show, but it annoys me that Babs only comes on when they have a high-profile guest, like if the other guests are not worthy of her presence. She should just retire, I like the show when she is not there, and it’s not like she has any real responsibilities on there any more.
I don’t know why people are dissing Barbara Walters. She’s had a very distinguished career as a broadcaster and a writer, she looks GREAT at 80 years old, and she’s obviously intelligent and classy. A true lady with a healthy sense of humor.
