Actress Nancy Dolman, wife of Martin Short, passes away

According to CNN, Martin Short’s wife, Nancy Dolman, has passed away. No details were given, but the LAFD reportedly responded to a call at the couple’s home Saturday morning. “Sadly, we can confirm that Martin Short’s wife did pass away,” Short’s rep Camille Kuznetz told CNN Monday. “We do not have any other comment to make.”

Dolman, 58, was married to Short for 30 years; the couple had three children. Dolman had a recurring role on the TV series Soap in 1981, and met Short in the 1972 Toronto production of Godspell, where she was Gilda Radner’s understudy. She retired from showbiz in the ’80s to be a full-time mother.

UPDATE: L.A. County Coroner Chief Craig Harvey confirmed to People that Dolman’s death was from natural causes. “[Dolman] was under the care of a private physician for a natural disease,” he told People. “There will be no coroner involvement.”

“Rusty”, whether or not people on this site were overreacting to the passing of a show business person that you considered minor, the truth of the moment is that she mattered greatly to her husband, her three children and others in her family and extended family. No matter how you felt about the posts here to express such icy boorishness where many among her family and friends could read it in a public forum at this very time is a much worse commentary on your own lack of character than any expressed here. It is always best to choose silence when you can’t say something good in the wake of a person’s passing. It is the difference in being big verses acting small.

I have been a long time fan of Martin Short. I am so sorry to hear about his wife. 30 years of marriage is something to be proud of.

Peppy – You are right on. I think Martin Short is an interesting, original, funny individual which is why I am reading this article in the first place. Of course I am sad to hear his wife died. That’s what makes us human!

Celebrity or not. Nancy was a mother, wife, daughter and friend.
May she rest in peace. Blessings to the family.
