Sly Stallone considering sequel to 'The Expendables'

The-ExpendablesImage Credit: Karen BallardSylvester Stallone told the Hollywood Reporter that he’s already thinking about a sequel to The Expendables, which opened at No. 1 this weekend by grossing $35 million. “I believe this group has to continue to evolve –  it just can’t become the same people,” he told the trade publication. “So how do you get new people introduced into the group, and how do you have some of the other people leaving?  Those are the challenges.”

Stallone said one of the proudest moments of his career was completing the Rocky franchise with the 2006 sequel Rocky Balboa. “To be able to meet the challenge of completing that series after all these years, that was great. But this one here tops that — not in an emotional way but for excitement. This should have never happened. (Producer) Avi Lerner really took a big gamble on me with this when nobody else would. I know because I heard about it every day! He kept worrying about the reviews.”

I loved the ending to the Rocky series and will definitely be there for a sequel to the Expendables.

The Expendables was a lot of fun.It deserves a sequel.

Reviews for Expendable????Bunk! It was the best fun at a Saturday matinee that I have had in a long time. The audience was hooting and hollering, cheering and clapping. Haven’t felt this way since I last heard the trumpet of a cavalry charge!. Good job Sly.

    Where there’s Stallone, there’s a sequel…

    • Adam

Wonder if it’s only a matter of time ’til we get “Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot Part Two.” He could get Betty White to co-star!

    • Buffie

It’s about time somneoe wrote about this.

  • PixxieTrixxie

This movie was just too much fun – as long as they keep Stratham (sp?) and Jet Li – I’ll be there.

    • Liz

I definitely liked the core cast the way it was and would love to see them back together. It was such a fun movie.

    • Courtney

I can definitely agree. Jason was one of my favorite parts of the movie. All the guys were but Jason and Mickey are must keeps. I’d go see the sequel.

  • Tye-Grr

    >_>

  • Carrie

I’d love a sequel. They could still keep the original cast in but in smaller parts to shift to the new guys.

  • Ryan

    More Charisma Carpenter!!

    • @TweedleV

      yay cordy!!!

Damn…more moronically acted tripe, from monosyllabic oversteroided meatheads blowing stuff up. Why? What happened to the great writer of Rocky?

    • yepyep

the movie was fun thats all that matters. The great writer of Rocky has been trying to save his career now for as long as I can remember, so he went back to what seems to be fun and you know it worked, so call it what you want, I’m there for the sequel!!!

Y’know, “Rocky” wasn’t Shakespeare, and the character Rocky wasn’t exactly an intellectual, either.

      • The Truth

Ya, but it was a “ting of beauty.” Rocky was not an intellectual, but he was wise in the ways of life. His comments and observations are still relevant today. Thats good writing.

    • Frank

Me and my girl loved it — and so did the audience. We’ll be back for more!

    • Joel

The script was garbage. The dialogue between all of the guys felt forced. There were so many people in the movie, that they were all underwritten. Action scenes only work if you are invested in the characters and the story. I wasn’t.

Just because you can bbq a great chicken doesn’t mean you can’t try tri tip or fish. The Expendables was a great film! Why do you have to start hating? Rocky is done with, over. Besides, Sly loves this action stuff, just as millions of his fans does also. It had been so long since a theater was so into a film like that one! I can’t wait for pt 2!!!

Definately a fun movie. Would love to see last one sequel. Maybe with the freshly back to acting Governor Schwarzenegger !

  • mondo182

A sequel would be great. Bring back some more action legends that missed out on the first round. Maybe for the sequel, with Arnold finishing his run as governor, Sly’s squad can compete with Arnold’s squad on completing a mission.

EXPENDABLES 2 WISH LIST! My list is not based on how likely it is they would agree to appear in a sequel, just that it would be a kick to see them in Expendables 2: Steven Seagal, Vin Diesel, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jackie Chan, Rutger Hauer and it would be great if he would agree to do the movie, even if just in a cameo role like Arnold & Bruce…Will Smith. And of course, if Jean-Claude Van Damme would take his head out of his arze, he would be a welcome addition too.

    • JLC

We definitely need to see some Van Dammage!

      • TrayB

Van Damme was asked but turned it down because he was to be beaten by Jet Li in the movies.

  • Creighton

Carl weathers, and get Arnie in on the action. Carl has history with both men and is needed. (Also for fun get mel gibson as the villain).

  • Creighton

I would agree with the above though statham and Li are crucial, while I liked everyone randy couture would be my first choice to go.

    • Dan

They can bring back the whole cast cause *spoiler alert* –turns out no one was really expendable even the turncoat, Lundgren, survived.

  • paul t

If Stallone is going to do a expendables sequel with different cast members he should think of including Chuck Norris,Jean Claude Van Damme,Chow Yun Fat,Wesley Snipes and Kurt Russell

    • Jane

These guys are OLD….Kind of like seeing Wayne Newton and Tom Jones in an action film——–Just cause they have younger wifes DOES not mean they are young—-They are old and look old-Grandfather types and the movie is sad and pathetic—–I am happy my grandfather accepts his age and is not running around with weapons in a movie trying to stay young-wow—

      • Brett

        Old, but still popular, Jane.

    • Jeff M.

well u can count Wesley Snipes out he is in prison bit*hes
