According to Fantasia Barrino’s manager, the American Idol winner was not responsible for breaking up the marriage of a North Carolina couple, People reports. In a child custody case filing, Paula Cook alleged last week that her husband, Antwaun Cook, and Barrino began a year-long “covert adulterous affair” in August 2009 and allegedly “recorded their illicit sexual activity.” Paula and Antwaun Cook, who have two young children, reportedly split in June. “Fantasia is certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of [their] marriage,” Barrino’s manager, Brian Dickens, said in a statement released Monday. “Mrs. Cook gratuitously included claims about Fantasia to sensationalize that litigation. Fantasia will weather this storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout a life in which she has repeatedly overcome obstacles and challenges.”

Um, doesn’t she have a tattoo of the guy’s name? Unless I hear otherwise, that suggests to me that she certainly was having an affair with him, and I don’t know who in their right mind could try to make the argument that a long-term affair does NOT contribute to the “deterioration” of a marriage. You could say that the marriage was having problems and that’s why he looked outside the marriage for companionship, but…that’s kind of BS because plenty of people have problems and then WORK THEM OUT. I saw Fantasia give an interview on this matter over the weekend and it struck me how absolutely dumb and lower-class she comes across. She is clearly uneducated and appears to struggle when she attempts to put together sentences. She’s also unpleasant to look at. I don’t get it, dumb and ugly, who would have an affair with this woman?

That’s one thing I hate about American Idol. You get so many lazy bums on this show trust trying to get through life without working. Not like other shows where you have to be talented and work hard.
I disagree with that. Just getting on the show and even winning the show does not mean success. There is still a lot of hard work that has to be done to make it. AI is just a tool to get yourself seen and heard, the rest is up to the individual and it takes hard work and dedication.
Going on American idol doesn’t mean people are lazy. Anyone trying to better their lives shouldn’t be labled. Jealousy is bad for one’s health. It is clear that no one is giving these people anything. They work just as hard. Getting involved with a married person isn’t right, but demeaning other people and namecalling doesn’t help either. This lady and young man’s family needs prayer. Has anyone stopped to think this woman may be hurting as well as the kids?

Well there happen to be women out there who go after married men. They seek them out and go after them. Not interested in all the single men who are available. It is my understanding she met him at a T-Mobile store where he was employeed and pursued him. Yes, he should have kept in his pants. But with her paying to fly him all over the US and some islands, she made it really easy to stray. And if she didn’t know he was married at first, which I doubt, she should have broke it off as soon as she found out. Even if they were seperated, seperated does not = divorced. Until they sign the divorce papers, they are still married.

The black blogs have been covering this story since last june when she showed up with his name tatooed on her shoulder then coverered that tattoo after proof of it was posted. She then claimed that she didnt even know anyone named Antoine Cook. They even had pictures of the guy with his wife one wkend and fantasia the next. Picutes of them vacationing in swimsuits. The wife is actually an attractive woman with an MBA that could have done better than this TMobile loser anyway.

Yes, I live in NC and we have a clause where a scorned woman can sue the mistress for “alienation of affection” which is essentially emotional damages. I can’t help but find the reactions to this news highly fasinating. I think sleeping with a married person, or being married and committing adultery are equally reprehensible actions. Neither party is to be commended or has any excuse. However, I recall that when news was coming out about Tiger’s NUMEROUS infidelities many were singing a different tune. “He is a great golfer, his private life is no one elses business.” However, with Fantasia it is “She’s a skank, stupid, ugly.” Is the difference the wattage of star power between the two? Or could it be the age old double standard of “boys will be boys,” but woman should be above any such conduct?
