American Idol host Ryan Seacrest and exiting judge Simon Cowell both reacted last night to Ellen DeGeneres’ decision to exit the show’s judging panel after just one season.
Seacrest expressed his feelings via Twitter: “Spoke with ellen d tonight aka @theellenshow. I will miss her on idol. She’s one of the kindest and most talented people in hollywood!”
Cowell gave his statement to The Hollywood Reporter, noting that, “As I got to know Ellen, I grew to really, really like her. I have huge respect for her because she’s always been in control of her own destiny.”

can they fire seacrest? Since uncle nigel is in charge, I vote for Cat Deely on idol!
Cat is so under-appreciated. She’s a caring host who recognizes the show is about the contestants, not her.
I actually like Ryan, but Cat is SO good, and I love the way she is so encouraging and supportive to the kids. Hosting is really such an art, and the good ones make it look so easy.
Well said, DCtoronto! Not sure about Neely, but Seacrest is at times very creepy, inconsiderate, and convinced it seems that Idol is now The Ryan Seacrest show.
Michael, I am very interested in knowing your reaction to the J-lo rumours. I also read on another site that Kara is out, Randy is staying and Steven Tyler (ick) would be the other new judge.
Steven, Jennifer and Randy make a great TEAM. Constructive criticism is given when nedeed no on is tearing anyone down. The MOST IMPORTANT REASON .the talent and their sincerity. The judgesz got it right when they chose the TOP 24 America has made a few mistakes PIA should still be there and Haley gone. Her actions show an egotistical non-caring person. Sure she has some talent but her always sexual(not sensual)growling and loud screaming is not pretty or good for anyone except hormonal boys. She thinks she is MORE than she is. Attitude adjustment for her would help her growth by focusing on TALENT. The viewers may drop if another talented person is voted off and Haley is still there. I’m just saying
I’m sure she enjoyed the show, but felt more comfortable being just a fan. She never really had much to add as far as critiques went, just some occasional comic relief. I think with both her exit and Simon’s they have an opportunity to reinvent the show and keep it relevant.
