Brad Pitt is attached to star in the big-screen adaptation of Max Brooks’ novel World War Z, according to MTV News. The zombie apocalypse film, slated for a summer 2012 release, will be directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) from a script by J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5) and Matthew Michael Carnahan (Lions for Lambs). Paramount has also optioned Brooks’ The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.

what’s not to like? great book, good actor. with brad pitt attached it is bound to get the treatment it deserves. difficult book to adapt into a proper movie, however.
What’s not to like? Marc Forster. He’s going to kill this movie dead with his ridiculous jump edits and total inability to tell a coherent, interesting story. Didn’t you see Quantum of Solace?
That movie was directed so badly it was hard to follow the action. The fact he is directing this (and Brad Pitt who is a terrible actor) means I’ll wait until it hits pay cable.
And please no one say Fight Club or 12 Monkeys or Benjamin Button as examples of why Pitt rocks, I thought all 3 of those movies sucked although I know I’m in the minority.
Brad Pitt is a great actor. Example: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
True. Also Sleepers, Legends of the Fall (bad movie, but Pitt is amazing in it), Inglorious Basterds, Se7en, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Fight Club, A River Runs Through It, True Romance, etc).

This should really be done as an HBO miniseries like Band of Brothers. A feature length film may not translate the book very well.
I agree, I think it will be limited with a 2.5 hour movie. Plus, there is not a “main character” in this movie, it’s a story of events, of people’s accounts of the war. That bothers me that it needs a “star”
I think an HBO miniseries is a genius idea. In some ways, the book is similar to Band of Brothers as a memoir of a global conflict.

I wonder if the movie will be a series of stories or if they’ll try to lump everything together and make Brad Pitt a central character. If the former, it would be interesting to see which character he’d play.
Brad is a much better man and actor being with Angelina…she brings out the beast in him (the other one was just too bland)
