With Hollywood’s contract with the Teamsters scheduled to expire Aug. 1, movie and television producers are preparing for a strike that could put a bigger dent in the industry than the 2007-08 writers strike did. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Teamsters’ Hollywood Local 399 is planning a strike-authorization vote this Sunday that will provide leverage for a walk-out. At issue is, of course, money. The union wants a two-year deal with annual raises of 3 percent; the producers are offering three years with 2 percent bumps. Teamster and Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers reps are scheduled to resume bargaining this Friday.

I kinda think you’re taking it for granted that most people know what the Teamsters do and where their members fit in the scheme of production!
I agree–I have no idea what the Teamsters include!
I think they include freight/ shipping workers? I have a friend who works at UPS and is a member. But I had no idea they have a special deal with Hollywood producers or how that would supposedly mess up production worse than having no writers.
Unions have messed up the road construction season in chicago – I say let them mess up the movie production, contruction, etc in HO-wood – who needs jobs, income and a sustained way of living – go ahead teamsters – strike…you are only hurting you and making a bad name on worse…
