They need to ditch Kara. Then add Harry & Bret. Anybody but Kara…

    • Pam

      Gawd, how I loathe Kara.

I think it should be P Diddy..

I could not stand listening to that mumblemouth. He would be a terrible judge. His lack of vocabulary would make Randy look smart and well-spoken.

      • Vince from NYC

You don’t like the way he speaks or he wouldn’t be a good judge, which is it? I think he’s way qualified to be a judge being that he has put out some great artists and has the “Making the band” experience. He may not have a British accent but I think he would be able to replace the dynamic that Simon brought to the show. He’d be better the Stern or Michaels..

      • Stormy

I actually think Kenny [Babyface] Edmonds would be a better choice than Diddy, but I’m Ok with Chris Isaak.

I don’t know how someone like Chris or Harry (even though I love both of them) will fit into this mandate from the AI braintrust that the next Idol is a tweenstar, like they’ve been pushing for (and failing miserably at) for the last few years. Between lowering the age requirements and forcing less-talented contestants through to the top 12, this doesn’t all seem to jive in my opinion.

Some boring third-rate singer who has one hit from twenty years ago? And the song was annoying even then. Simon’s replacement should be somewhat exciting and controversial. And have charisma. Then again, this rotten, braindead show doesn’t deserve much better. Hopefully this will be the last season for American Cheese Whiz.

      4th rate, one hit wonder.

    • Anon

Actually, he’s had more than one hit, although Wicked Game is the song that everyone remembers. Just because you may not listen to him doesn’t mean that you should deny his work. I don’t listen to P-Diddy, and have no clue how many hits he’s had, but I don’t deny that he’s had them.

Joe Jackson- the Brit rock musician. He has over 30 albums; rock, swing, jazz, salsa, soundtracks. He is very funny and opinionated, and has the creds to back it up. He is qualified to critique any genre of music on Idol.

Brilliant!!! I bet most people reading this have no idea how smart that suggestion is.

At the very least do a Joe Jackson theme one episode. His songbook has an amazing range.

  • Pamela

I say put Chris Isaak AND Harry Connick Jr. on the panel, and get rid of Ellen and Randy Jackson. That way, we would only have to listen to 3 judges, but they would be articualte people who actually might have some actual musical opinion.

    • Stormy

Keep Randy, dump Kara and Ellen.

hubba hubba! now this will make me a loyal viewer of ai

I’d like to lobby for Shania in the mix. No fan of her music, but she was a fantastic judge last season. Smart, shrewd, funny, and I admit she’s got the star wattage.

    • Beth

Add Shania, Kristen Chenoweth and Harry, get rid of Ellen.

  • Stephanie T.

But that’s just it. Chris Isaak is like having punk singer John Doe judging Idol. He’s funny as hell, great singer/songwriter, and cameo actor but now who’s going to be the a-hole of the group? Kara?

  • craig

Music Producer David Foster should fill that role, he is very acerbic but knows the Buisness!

    • Yo’

David Foster is unpleasant and his comments might well be withering. I would not watch this show at all were he on it. Puppy mill footage would be kinder.

  • sam

I still say David Foster, as Rob lowe said — he was a judge on simon cowell’s DUETS — and he was as mean as simon — but he also is such a talented producer — he discovered and produced such great talents as Michael buble and celine dion — if they want to bring credibility back to the show — there is no other guy but david foster.

    • Stormy

Wrong answer. AI is going to struggle and to survive it has to have someone on the judges panel that the audience actually likes. Simon is gone, Kara is almost universally hated, Randy is a comfortable Ok with almost everybody safe bet, Ellen is inane and should depart quietly. The new judge needs charisma, Foster has none. Jon Bon Jovi would be the best choice. Universally adored, successful artist, singer/songwriter, attractive and charismatic. And after 25 years, still has top ten grossing tours. He knows it all, yet is charming and humble while still telling it like it is. Perfect.

  • Aimzee

I love the idea of Chris Isaak. He would be perfect! Remember there is no Simon Cowell in all those countries who have Idol shows. It can be successful. Yes, different, but I am glad Simon is gone. All I ask is for Chris or Harry to be fair.

  • Christy

I think either Chris or Harry would be a great choice. I think Chris might be a little more quirky and he has great knowledge of all types of music- if you saw any of his shows on Biography they were great…
That being said I always love Harry and he was great as a mentor but the judges don’t really get to do that so he might not enjoy it as much as a once a season appearance…

  • Mia

Just saw Chris in concert and saw Harry last year (Bruce 17 times). Both guys would be good if it is staying on the air. No to Bret.
