Reports: Robert Shapiro no longer Lindsay Lohan's lawyer

Filed under: Movies, News and tagged:
Celebrity attorney Robert Shapiro has stepped down as Lindsay Lohan‘s attorney, according to TMZ and The Los Angeles Times. Late last week, Shapiro said that he would serve as part of her legal team ”on the condition she comply with the terms of probation, including a requirement of jail, imposed by Judge Marsha Revel. According to several reports, Shapiro never signed the paperwork that would make him Lohan’s attorney of record. Lohan, who was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating probation from a DUI conviction, is scheduled to appear in Beverly Hills Superior Court this morning, when she will surrender. Lohan tweeted on Monday night, “the only ‘bookings’ that i’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that i’d be ‘booking’ into Jail… eeeks.”

His stint as her lawyer lasted about as long as her most recent period of sobriety.

In my opinion, his stint was pure p.r. for his foundation

that and it now proves that his sober living facility is not really that good if it can’t handle Lindsay and her demons …

At this point she is not even capable of a Drew Barrymore type comeback. She is in such heavy denial and it doesn’t help that her mother is her biggest enabler and her father is a ridiculous attention whore. It’s crazy how quickly drugs and alcohol can ruin your career and life. I genuinely wish her well but she NEEDS to serve her 90 day jail term and 90 day rehab stint. If she doesn’t learn from both things, then there really is no hope for her at all.

I just don’t see any way she actually serves anywhere near the full 90 days in jail. They’ll cite overcrowding as the reason for letting her out early.

      • Sarah

Yeah based on everything i’ve read, she’ll serve 25% of her sentence.

well, in all fairness, Drew Barrymore was only under the scrutiny of tabloids…it wasn’t in the age of twitter, tmz or facebook….

      • NoChance

I believe that Drew was already living a clean and sober life by the time she was 15. Drew admitted to her self that she had a problem and she wanted sobriety – this is why she was able to achieve it.
Sadly, Lindsay hasn’t reached this point yet.
I wish her luck and hope she chooses a proven rehab center and not one that has horseback riding, computer access, daily friend/family visits. To truly have a shot at becoming and staying clean and sober she needs to focus on herself.

I wish her the best as Lindsey is so much more talented than most of yourng actresses out there. If britney could make a comeback, why wouldn’t she. I hope jail time will hold the possibility for her to sober up and come to her senses.

    • Mavis

Part of the reason Britney was able to make a comeback was because she actually has hard nosed parents (at least the dad is). Lindsey’s mom parties along side her daughter and as mentioned above enables her daughter. Lindsey’s father is just out for the attention.

agreed – i dont feel sorry for her – she has tons of money and has been given more opportunities than most people, and somehow she has managed to squander everything. but it is pretty sad that her parents seem to have destroyed her for their own benefit.

I hope she gets the full 90 days. That’ll teach this spoiled brat a lesson. Throw mom in there with her since she is either too blind or too stupid to realize her daughter has a problem.

    • Taylor

I would also like to see her do all the time, or at the very least 2 months of it, but most estimates say she’ll be out in 2 weeks.

Why does EW think that every time Lindsey Lohan burps it should be reported? Slow news day? I couldn’t care less about this washed-up up, sad brat. If she stays in a jail as long as a week I’ll be surprised, so this will teach her nothing.

The world can do without the likes of Lohan, Spears, and other useless people who are mostly famous for being famous now, haven’t done anything worthwhile in years. There are PLENTY of people with similar or far better talent waiting for their break.

    • MA

I mostly agree with you, but I’d like to point out that Spears is coming off a surprisingly very successful world tour that grossed a lot of money – and, incidentally, employed quite a few people. Say what you will about her talent, but Spears is doing worthwhile things to support her children.

The problem with the media reporting on every “bad” thing these drug-addled D-list “celebrities” do is that these people crave attention, whether or not it’s good or bad. If the media stopped covering their antics, that might be the best way to motivate them to clean up their act. The problem is, the media likes to report scandalous stuff, so attention-addicted stars (Lohan, Paris Hilton, Spencer Pratt, etc.) respond by getting further out of control. And EW has gotten as bad as the tabloids with this type of reporting lately.

Apparently she was very disruptive and she had people over all hours of the night. What’s so funny is that she is only going to have to spend 20 days or so locked up, what’s the big deal? She’s expending so much energy resisting this. I wouldn’t mind some solitary time in life. I’d just read books and enjoy the silence. Moreover, when she gets out all her friends and family will pamper her, further reinforcing her entitled behavior. If there was one voice of reason in her life it would say, “You messed up, now do your time and learn from your mistakes!” Instead she’ll get hugs and kisses.

  • john

wow – I wonder what liho did or said to be dropped so fast – guess there will be no get out of jail free pass…goodbye liho

    • stan

Haha, when the guy who represented OJ Simpson drops you, that says it all, she has an BIGGER problem than people thought!!

    • JPX

Acording to E! News, “As for why Shapiro quit, E! News has it down to Lindsay’s irresponsible and disrespectful behavior while she was staying in the “sober house” he founded. They report that she had people over all the time and was generally disruptive.”

  • It’s a fact

Lindsey is an actress although a bad one with a bad reputation. No wonder she tries to fool these lawyers and judges to think she has really changes. Change? Not likely. She already thinks she is smarter and better than all these folks combined. Robert Shapiro is lucky he saw through her before his reputation is ruined. Good Bye Lindsey – see you on the other side. Hope you find a jail buddy, I hear that all want to be your friend.

    • john

Hard to find a jail buddy when she really is going to only spend 1 day in jail – sad sad sad
