Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s daughter, Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill, is going to court to attempt to block the auction of some her mother’s prized possessions, according to the Associated Press. A court hearing is scheduled for this morning, and it will be decided whether the auction—which is planned for tomorrow—should be stopped. Luckinbill claims that some of the items up for sale belong to her, including love letters between Ball and her second husband, Gary Morton, photographs, and lifetime achievement awards. Morton’s widow, however, has counter-sued Luckinbill to get a judge to authorize the auction of the personal effects.

So let me get this straight. Lucille Ball’s second husband’s widow – someone who I’d assume didn’t know Lucy at all, and lucked into this stuff – is going to sell valuables and mementos like freakin’ lifetime achievement awards and love letters, rather than give them to Lucy’s own daughter, to whom they’re invaluable. Talk about a classy b*tch. Special place in hell for that kind of callousness.
Booooooooo on that woman trying to cash in on Lucy’s possessions. That stuff should go to her daughter – no questions asked.
Gary Morton’s been dead for about 11 years and Lucille Ball for 21 years. If the stuff belongs to Lucy why didn’t she claim it before now? It doesn’t seem like it was really all that important to her.
Auctions and court cases don’t happen overnight…we don’t know how long this argument has been going on…
not enough info given here.
these items likely were given to the ex husband by her mother. they could have been given to him when Lucy died, especially the love letters. The daughter could be upset that this unrelated woman will benefit from what were gifts to Mr morton. I fso the daughter will loose.
Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
