A second purported tape in which Mel Gibson threatens ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva — this time, admitting to hitting her — has surfaced on RadarOnline.com. The profanity-laden rant includes a voice that sounds like Gibson telling Grigorieva, who’s also the mother of his 8-month-old daughter, “You need a [expletive] bat in the side of the head.” He continues, “I’ll put you in a [expletive] rose garden. … You understand that? Because I’m capable of it.” And when she chastises him for hitting her in the face and breaking her teeth, he responds, “Oh, you’re all angry now! You know what, you [expletive] deserved it.” Gibson is under investigation in connection with a Jan. 6 domestic violence allegation by Grigorieva. Gibson has accused her of trying to extort money from him by threatening to release the recordings.

How did first wife Robin stay with him after all these years? And didn’t they have -like- eight kids together?!? I had heard a rumor that she’d look the other way when he’d sleep around, that they stayed together because of their religious background (Catholic?). But if he’s acting this way and thinks it’s acceptable behavior, it probably means this is how he’s always been like. Scary.
This is probably not new behavior. This man has always been this way. My question is why would any woman stay in a situation like this and continue to have all those kids? Is she crazy too? Im sure she has had her share of Mel-meltdowns and beatings over 28 years. He probably finally humiliated her enough to call it quits. But if Mel is upset about leaving his wife, he deserves what he gets. This woman was after no more than a meal-ticket to latch on to and he fell for it. I do not feel sorry for him AT ALL. I don’t feel sorry for her except for the physical abuse which no one should have to put up with. She knowingly hooked up with and took another woman’s husband and waisted no time in popping out a baby real quick to get her part of his fortune. Mel was right, she never really wanted him and frankly she should bleed him for every penny she can get. He should be in a prison with a padded cell. But when you are as rich as he is, all he will get is a slap on the wrist and probation again. The man is a hateful, miserable racist and a dangerous lunatic who needs to be stopped before he really does kill someone. I have no intention of adding to his bank account by seeing his movies anymore. He is religious hypocrit who should shut his mouth about his religion and beliefs. He is a liar just like Jesse Jackson and should be discounted and ignored.

Oh, of course it will. Chris Brown beat the crap out of Rihanna, we all saw the pictures and there’s Queen Latifah telling us all it’s time we forgive him and start buying his records again. Before that, ABC canceled an Adam Lambert concert and replaced him with a Chris Brown performance and interview, changed only after an outcry against the double standard victimizing Lambert. If left to their own devices, ABC would have rather help promote a woman beater than a guy who kissed another guy at 11pm. So of course Mel will have a come back ~ Violence against women means nothing in this country.

You aren’t far off. I truly believe he has been mentally ill his entire adult life, probably had at least some treatment to control his symptoms, bipolar most likely, & some other borderline personality disorders, but that as he has gotten older, & I’ve had some personal experience with this, people begin to disintegrate, especially if their treatment isn’t consistent & medications retooled over the years as needed. He seems to be self-medicating now which can be nothing but bad. Also, if anyone here knows about what was going on with Rita Hayworth in her later years, just before they finally figured out she had Alzheimer’s, she was drinking heavily, prone to fits of rage, breaking things, etc., sounds a lot like what’s going on with Mel. I don’t know, not a shrink or a neurologist, but he surely needs one or both now, for himself & his children. They must be humiliated & scared at this point. Mel needs a PET scan, pronto. And if I’m off the mark then he needs to go to jail, but my money’s on mental illness, or something even worse that cannot be fixed. And if that’s the case, he deserves our compassion, not our contempt.
Well whatever the diagnosis is, he’s clearly extremely ill and disturbed. When you’re that famous people tend to let behaviors slide that would normally be delt with. At this point in his life he has been left to deteriorate and descend into this madness. I don’t think at this late stage that any amount of medication and therapy can really help him. He clearly believes what he’s saying and I think he’s too far gone. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, as it were. So what is to become of him? I don’t know but he needs to be kept away from that baby. I mean no contact ever… it’s better to have no father than a dangerous one.

I agree with your mental illness theory. He does seem like he has a personality disorder or somehting psychologically wrong with him. Men with borderline personality disorders are known for and capable of killing. If you have ever been around a borderline, it is pure hell. Run like hell, if one ever shows up in your life! Most borderlines are females.
I agree that Mel needs help…whether he is addicted to something or is suffering from a mental or medical illness…he needs help.
Mental illness this compassion that. Drinking is alcoholism, not “self medication” and abuse is a conscious decision to exploit a weakness. Telling someone you want to help them see a doctor after they hit you or try to set your house on fire is a sick way of allowing an abuser back into your life. Hitting people is against the law. People are doing it because they think they will not face the law. I do not know why society gets off on this BS.
And if you do get protection, don’t fall back into that urge to “caretake” and play the martyr because that is a sick pattern. If you find yourself using “caretaking” as an excuse to keep yiurself somehow in the abuser’s life, you are asking for it. It then becomes more about you than them and will tell an abuser that you are weak. Wise up and stop doing the same thing over and over.

As for a mental illness, dementia would be an entirely different animal than a personality disorder. Many kind, gentle people are turned vicious and cruel by dementia, in which case I think compassion would be important (not that Gibson was ever kind or gentle – or vicious and cruel for that matter – obviously we have no idea what he has really been like all these years).

I say this as a guy who was a fan and was able to stay an apologist even after his issues with the cops (with the understanding that he needed help and to get his life in order), he is lucky he has enough money to pay for a good lawyer. If he somehow manages to avoid really long jail time or a stay in the looney bin, he needs to pack up and go into hiding for the rest of his life.
