Lindsay Lohan's sentencing: How it might affect her upcoming projects

Lindsay Lohan’s 90-day jail sentence might set production back on some of her upcoming projects. According to the Associated Press, Matthew Wilder — the director behind the Linda Lovelace biopic Inferno — said production will be indeed be delayed, due to Tuesday’s ruling. Wilder, however, insisted he is “100 percent behind Lindsay.” “We are proud to have this remarkable artist work on our film,” he told the Associated Press. (Wilder has yet to respond to EW’s calls for comment.)

And though 20th Century Fox and director Robert Rodriguez declined to comment about how Lohan’s jail sentence might affect the marketing of their upcoming Machete, the production companies behind some of Lohan’s other possible films have admitted that the actress’ July 20 jail date might have a ripple effect behind-the-scenes. John Edmonds Kozma, one of the producers behind Bang Productions and Lost Colony Entertainment’s One Night With You, told EW that production on the film could be pushed back six months to a year, due to Lohan’s sentence. “Now it just comes down to if she could be bonded,” he says. “So things are up in the air, whether we can even make the film. It’s all pending on the outcome. We probably won’t be able to determine anything until she gets out, and see what direction she’s headed at that point.”

David Von Roehm, a producer for The Dry Gulch Kid, told EW that since Lohan was not officially cast in the film yet, the “situation has no bearing on our decisions.” Luck Films — the production company behind Dry Gulch — has no plans to offer Lohan’s role to anyone else, though. “We think she is a great actress and hope her current temporary situation is resolved in time for our production,” Roehm says.

    Lindsay Lohan has projects?

    • Jane

Seriously, who would want to work with someone who doesn’t respect herself, others or reasonable demands for her time (ie: court dates, call times). Plus with the substance abuse, she could end up dead mid-project, killing someone who ends up in the wake of her actions or doing more serious time for more serious crimes. What a mess.

      • Zach

        Jim & Jane are wise.

      • So????

They meant to say that Lindsay will soon be LIVING in the projects.

    • ewj

People forget that Robert Downey was in the same situation 5 years ago.

      • Chaz Winterbottom

He was a 24 year old woman?

      • wraith808

        @Chaz Winterbottom

        Score!

      • Kelly

        Very good point…

      • Zach

More like 10 years ago…and he had more of a career and talent to begin with.

    • PJ

Jim, if you would read the article, you’d see the answer is clearly yes.

    • JEFF

AMERICAN Justice has only one answer to every problem. ‘PUT THEM IN JAIL” We are already the jailing capital of the world. Why not try a few hundred other Behavior Modification programs that really work. Proven 100X of time that jail does not work. (Don’t ask me to list them stupid)

  • TylerSG

Hey Moe, where’s your pancake mix?

  • TQB

Lohan’s projects are films so desperate for publicity that they are actually capitalizing on her infamy.

    • Andy F.

That certainly seems to be case with this Inferno guy, who, based on his many quotes, seems to think she’s the Ben Kingsley to his Sir Richard Attenborough.

      • Inferno is Lindsay’s Showgirls!

Ha Ha! So true. The reason he’s 100% behind Lindsay is because he was happy he miraculously was able to get a “real” actress interested in the project (i use that loosely) and didn’t have to shoot it with the porn stars who he was initially gonna be forced to shoot with. This might backfire for him, though. Her jail sentence and rehab time might actually give LL the dignity and backbone to turn down this job that would kill any career she has left and doom her to Lifetime movies or porn…

  • Michael Sacal

What about that Parent Trap II remake? Is that still on?

  • Cobra Jewel

Well, she’ll be a few months late for that big cocaine blowout in the gutter near 9000 Sunset Strip. Otherwise, she’s got nothing on her calendar.

  • Juuuust a little outside

Her jail stint should give her some extra billing power when she turns to porn.

  • Carl

Whatever her party lifestyle – she did NOT deserve this. The judge was probably harsh because of jealousy. She had a tight schedule abroad and could NOT leave early – the flight was canceled and she missed her appointment. She was NOT partying she was working. To sentence her for a 3 year charge for missing an appointment is ridiculous. Taxpayers money!!

    • K. Stewart

You’re right, Carl! No two-time drunk driving/cocaine possessing offender who repeatedly violates the conditions of her parole and disrespects the court should be punished accordingly. What is this crazy world coming to?! Too bad she didn’t kill anyone – then she REALLY wouldn’t deserve it.

    • Lizzy

      “A tight schedule abroad”?

When you are expected to be in court, you don’t plan trips abroad right up until the last minute. You make sure your butt is as close to that courthouse as possible without living in the bathroom.

      • Zoe

Absolutely. Any average person would be expected to be there on time, and would pay a price if they didn’t. She is NOT special!

    • adri

      Dina…is that you?

  • Maire

Please God give Lindsay strength as she faces this milestone in her life.

    • Constance

Next milestone. . . rehab. . .followed by DUI. . . followed by court. See a pattern. Maire find strength in your belief in someone that is worth your time

      • D

i think the prayer should be Please God let Lindsay understand that she’s wrong, that she has a problem and that she’ll need to be a member of AA not just for today, but for the rest of her life.

  • Kevin Bell

See people, she has stuff going on!

  • K. Stewart

“Remarkable artist”? “Great actress”? Are you kidding me? Watch the bad acting from the last few minutes of the court hearing – it is hilarious. I will say that producers will likely want her involved in their projects after she gets out of jail, not because of her “talent” (which honestly hasn’t seen since Freaky Friday) but rather for the curiosity/train wreck factor. Jail time might be the best thing could have happened to her.

    • Kylie

say what you will about her personal life, she is a wonderful actress.

      • K. Stewart

        Watch a marathon of:

        Herbie Fully Loaded
        Just My Luck
        I Know Who Killed Me
        Labor Pains

        “Wonderful” acting indeed.

      • Sally in Chicago

        She makes juvenile movies.

      • terry

@K. Stewart, one of the funniest things I heard Richard Roeper say was that LL is even overacting on the dvd box. I think it was Just my luck, but I’ve seen a couple of her dvds with the same pose. Cracks me up whenever I see one.

    • terry

Yeah, one of the funniest things I’ve heard was R. Roeper reviewing a LL movie(Think it was Just My Luck) and held up the dvd saying she’s even overacting on the box. Since then I’ve seen a couple of other of her movies with the same pose on the box. I know Just… and Labor Pains look like the same picture(with a belly added.)

  • ben

Regarding the Lindsay Lohan “Death Pool”, I’ve got next Thursday. Tick-tock.

    • Jane

I’d take that bet. Mostly because I think she’s going to skip town, become a fugitive and die while she’s hiding, so we won’t even know when she dies.

  • Helen

Ohhh noooo, a celebrity that isn’t perfect. What, you’re so perfect that you feel you have the right to judge her so harshly? Get a life.

She’s now facing the music for her actions, hopefully she’ll do it with the dignity and grace that, by the way, most of us would have trouble displaying at any age.

    • J. Lo

You’re right Helen, only perfect people don’t drive drunk, do blow, repeatedly violate probation, and lie to judges after numerous chances to redeem themselves. People are such hypocrites. I’m sure she’ll serve her time in prison with the utmost dignity & grace, once she’s washed off the “F**K U” painted on her fingernails for the court hearing.

  • J

It’s about time she’s going to jail. She’s been getting away with murder. I’m getting sick of hearing about her problems. I hope she gets hard labor in prison.

  • Kaci

  • Kaci

    • Khloe
