Ed Limato, one of the most powerful and successful Hollywood agents of a generation, died today of natural causes at age 73 at his home in Beverly Hills, EW.com has confirmed. Limato, most recently a senior agent at William Morris Endeavor, helped guide the careers of such heavyweights as Denzel Washington, Richard Gere, Liam Neeson, Mel Gibson, Steve Martin, and Claire Danes. He also became known for throwing a huge A-list bash at his home during Academy Awards weekend. “I became friends with Ed because of his Oscar party,” Elton John, one of his closest friends, tells EW.com. “He hardly ever traveled outside of America, but he used to come every summer to stay with us in France. He was the gentleman agent and the last of a dying breed. He was such a wonderful man. I don’t think we’ll see the likes of him again.” Limato had been battling lung problems for the last several years.

Thats an incredible set of actors who he is responsible for.
Sad to hear, RIP & best wishes to the family.
It takes more than a great actor to be a star, but a great agent to assist you in that dream and Ed limato was that and meant that much.
God bless & RIP!
What a remarkable career and a classy guy. RIP, Mr. Limato.
Ed was old school. He was my surrogate father and dear friend. He has helped guide me in my career but I never wanted anything more than to be his friend and love him as he did me. He was too proud to tell his unconditional friends how ill he was. For that I feel regret. Ed Tomatoe, me, sten, Esme, joe and cece are going to miss you too much. x
He was a hero in the gay community. As a powerful, openly homosexual man in Hollywood, he showed us all that you didn’t have to hide who you are.
Speak for yourself Susannah! I honestly never liked him!
Susannah you have some nerve!
um….whatever! He couldn’t stand you!!
I love old-school Hollywood. Things were done so differently back then. Lots more secrets, lots more outrageous behaviour. I’m sorry Ed has passed. I bet he had some amazing stories!!!
Now this is news worthy
Ed Limato was the best man I have had the pleasure to serve as his personal projectionist for the past 14 years. I will miss him dearly and I hope he is now in a better place. Ed was like a dad to me and I will miss his compassion and friendship. He was the best man I have ever had the privilege to work for in the 35 years I worked in the entertainment industry. He will be missed by so many people he has helped in the motion picture industry. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
