Director Mark Waters in early talks for 'Mr. Popper Penguins'
Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday) is in early talks to direct a movie adaptation of Mr. Popper’s Penguins for 20th Century Fox, Variety reports. Director Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale) and actor Ben Stiller were previously tied to the movie, but are reportedly no longer involved. DreamWorks Animation secures movie rights for Troll dolls
DreamWorks Animation has snatched up the movie rights for the iconic Happy Troll Doll character, or more commonly known as “Troll dolls” or “Treasure Trolls,” according to Variety. DreamWorks Animation licensed the character from the Danish company Dam Things, and the studio has hired screenwriters Adam Wilson and Melanie Wilson LaBracio to write a script that’ll reportedly expand upon the Troll dolls’ mythology. The Troll dolls, which became an American toy fad in the 1960s, recently made a cameo appearance as train passengers during the opening action sequence of Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 3.

It hurts our economy, our health, and our safety.” The plan coordinates federal efforts combating intellectual property infringement, including the creation of a new specialized task force within the Justice Department. A report also released on Tuesday tallied motion picture and video piracy as costing the U.S. $20.5 billion every year.
Jerry Seinfeld calls Lady Gaga 'a jerk' for Citi Field antics
Image Credit: Al Bello/Getty Images; Sylvain Gaboury/PR PhotosIt’s a new inning in the Lady Gaga baseball saga. Almost two weeks following the pop star’s controversy-clad trip to Citi Field, where she gave the finger to Mets fans and was subsequently moved to Jerry Seinfeld’s luxury box, the comedian has reacted. “This woman’s a jerk. I hate her,” Seinfeld said Monday, at the tail-end of a radio sports show interview. “I can’t believe they put her in my box, which I paid for. You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we’re living in right now?” In the interview, Seinfeld sounds both exasperated and bemused, and it’s possible that his comments were made more in jest than in actual irritation. Seinfeld then segued into a characteristic comedic inquiry into the origin of “the finger.” “What’s the finger anyway?” he said. “Speaking of interesting and new, how old is the finger? How did it even get to be ‘the finger?’” Reps for Seinfeld and Lady Gaga did not respond to EW’s calls for comment.
Jeremy London on kidnapping: '[The incident] actually did happen'
Despite speculation, former Party of Five star Jeremy London insists in a videotaped statement that his kidnapping did happen. “It’s been an absolute nightmare,” the actor says on the tape. “First of all, I want to say [the incident] actually did happen. It was one of the worst days of my life. I thought I was going to die. Thank God I made it out alive…I had a gun put to my head. I had my family threatened. We’re working closely with the Palm Springs Police Department to get the rest of the guys. There’s one guy in custody. There’s two more out there.” (Police arrested Brandon Adams in connection with the June 10 kidnapping, during which London claims he was held at gunpoint and forced to take drugs.) Among those skeptical of his story was brother Jason London, who told People, “I’m glad my brother’s okay, but I have serious questions about what transpired. His health is our number one concern.” At this time, police claim there’s no reason to doubt the actor’s recollection of the kidnapping.
