A Los Angeles Superior Court judge found a Florida man guilty Friday of stalking Olympic gold medal gymnast and Dancing With the Stars champ Shawn Johnson. The judge determined that the man, 36-year-old Robert O’Ryan, was legally insane at the time of his arrest last March. O’Ryan was found guilty of felony stalking and burglary charges as well as two misdemeanor concealed-weapon violations. He was arrested after he jumped a fence at CBS Studios in Los Angeles, where Dancing With the Stars was being filmed. Police found two loaded guns in the man’s car, along with duct tape and love letters to the Olympian.

Jodie Foster claims teen's attack story a 'fabrication'
A rep for Jodie Foster denies that the actress attacked a teen outside an L.A. mall, telling People that the story is a “fabrication.” “This guy was most definitely a professional paparazzo,” the actress’ rep told People. “He had a large camera bag and 1000mm telephoto lens. He tailed Jodie and followed her all the way from the movie theater to the valet.” The incident in question happened on May 29, according to police reports. The 17-year-old claimed Foster “came after him [and] poked him in the chest” and “pushed and shoved him leaving scratches and bruises on his arm” after he asked her for a photo.
January Jones car accident not a hit-and-run, says LAPD
Contrary to web reports, the car accident involving January Jones last night in L.A. was not a hit-and-run, the LAPD told EW. In an attempt to evade paparazzi, the Mad Men actress lost control of her car and hit two other vehicles as a result. Jones will not been charged as there is no evidence of drugs or alcohol being the cause of the crash. Though some reports alleged that an investigation is underway, the LAPD confirms that because this is a traffic report, there is no plan to investigate.
Mark Cuban likely to sell his Lions Gate shares
Media mogul and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told the CNBC show Strategy Session on Thursday that he’d likely tender his shares of Lions Gate Entertainment to the American activist investor Carl Icahn, the Los Angeles Times reports. Cuban owns 5.3 percent of Lions Gate stock, while Icahn currently owns nearly 19 percent. If Cuban decides to sell his stake to Icahn, the investor would become the movie studio’s largest shareholder, and would therefore increase his chances of taking control of the company. Lions Gate puts out about 20-30 films per year, including the Saw series.
Shawn Johnson testifies against alleged stalker
Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson testified Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court in a case involving a man accused of stalking the Dancing With the Stars winner, according to the Associated Press. A 36-year-old man was accused of breaking into a studio lot to meet Johnson as she competed on the ABC show; he was later charged with felony stalking and burglary, and plead not guilty by reason of insanity. Authorities allegedly found a knife, handgun, shotgun, and bulletproof vest in the defendant’s car when he was arrested in March. Authorities said that they had also found love poems the man had written for Johnson.
“I didn’t know him,” Johnson, 18, said while testifying in court. “He was a stranger to me. To see somebody have that much obsession, it made me really scared.” The defendant, who allegedly traveled from Florida to L.A. with the hope of meeting and marrying Johnson, could face up to four years in prison if convicted.
Russell Crowe is not dead, says rep
Russell Crowe’s publicist has confirmed with EW that the Robin Hood actor is not dead, as some reports on the Internet have claimed. Earlier in the day, Z100, a radio station in New York, reported that he had passed away, while other outlets claimed that he had fallen 50 feet off a mountain. Crowe is the latest celebrity to fall victim to a death hoax in the past year: Jeff Goldblum, Rick Astley, Miley Cyrus, and Harrison Ford are just a few that have been falsely reported dead by various outlets.
Eva Longoria Parker calls restaurant lawsuit 'false'
A rep for Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker says the actress is innocent of charges filed against her earlier this week in connection with the Las Vegas franchise of her restaurant, Beso, according to the LA Times. On Tuesday, former Beso managers Ronen and Mali Nachum slapped the star with a lawsuit, claiming that she breached their contract and failed to repay a $280,000 construction loan for the restaurant. “All allegations made by the Nachums against Longoria Parker, her business partner and restaurant are absolutely false, untrue and without merit,” said the actress’ lawyer in a statement.
Larry King's wife recovering after apparent drug overdose last month
According to Larry King’s spokesman, Shawn King is recuperating from an apparent prescription drug overdose on May 28 at her Utah home, reports the AP. Emergency medical workers responded to a 911 call placed by Shawn’s father, Karl Engemann, who informed the dispatcher that his 50-year-old daughter—the seventh wife of the CNN talk show host— was breathing but not responsive when he tried to wake her. Engemann indicated that she might have taken too much anxiety or depression medication. The Kings filed for divorce in April, but reconciled last month.
UPDATE: People reports that police say King’s wife might have attempted suicide, and found notes that seemed to point to the fact that she “might hurt herself, such as that she wished to be buried in Utah.”
