Composer Allyn Ferguson dies

The Associated Press reports that Allyn Ferguson, a composer responsible for the theme songs for Charlie’s Angels and Barney Miller, passed away June 23 in Westlake Village, Calif., at 85. The Emmy-winner also wrote for the TV adaptation of Camille, and served as a musical director for the likes of Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, and Julie Andrews.

    Bass lines don’t get much better than the funky, walking intro in the Barney Miller theme song. RIP, and know that you’ll be remembered as I hung that riff in my head all day long…
