Bachelor executive producer Mike Fleiss is speaking out about the recent break-up of Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi, who became engaged during the show’s final rose ceremony in March. “It is painful,” Fleiss says in a statement to EW. “We’ve been on a roll lately with a bunch of happy couples in succession. Mr. and Mrs. Jason Mesnick, Ed [Swiderski] and Jillian [Harris], Ali [Fedotowsky] and ???… Strong relationships are even emerging from Bachelor Pad. This break-up caught me totally by surprise. I really feel bad for Jake and Vienna.” The reason for the break-up is not known yet, but Girardi tweeted Monday that rumors of her infidelity are false.

I bet it’s ‘painful’ thinking of all the money and effort ABC spent sending that couple back to St. Lucia to cultivate a relationship. All that time on Dancing with the Stars and on the cover of magazines. It all but delayed the inevitable. How can you be surprised when just about every audience member thought this match-up was a mistake?
Painful?? Really Mike Fleiss?? Really?? This show is extremely painful to watch….which is why the ratings tend to get smaller and smaller year after year. Why they keep this crap on the air is beyond me…other than it is cheaper to make/produce than a “real” TV program or even airing a repeat of something else. Pathetic mind numbing TV. This is why are kids are having problems today.
The home visit to Vienna’s swamp bog said it all for me, her big daddy alone would have had me running thru the everglades for my sanity if I was jake, but jake was too hot and bothered over making out in her old bedroom, yee ha!

Maybe they need to stop running Bachelor. These made-for-TV relationships don’t last. Jake and Vienna didn’t know each other enough! You have to take 2 years to know each other, not this condensed and crammed up packaged up relationship that TV likes to put on so perfectly. Real life doesn’t work like that! And Jake’s a pilot–he’s flying in the air all the time– for all I care, he must LOVE being single!

Anyone watching this show thinking it’s about finding love is DELUSIONAL! The point is a career in tv! The show is totally scripted, which is why ABC doesn’t care that Reality Steve spoiled the entire season, not to mention People Magazine.
I’ll agree that this is a stupid way to find love, but I don’t think the show is scripted. Maybe from a big picture persepctive only. Otherwise, how do you explain all the inarticulation and appalling grammar mistakes? They sound like typical, unintelligent young folks to me. How many times can you say amazing, awesome, and connection in one script?

Yea, the show is more like an unscripted show- they have plotlines, but they fill in the blanks themselves. When will they bring back “More To Love?” All these shows are train wrecks, at least that show was more obvious about it.

When Jake chose Vienna, he was “thinking” w/ the wrong part of his anatomy, a condition quite common among men. Men are so EASY to manipulate. I kinda feel sorry for them.

Let’s see, the producers select some of the sleaziest people – wanting to create drama and are surprised the relationship doesn’t last beyond a few months. Jake was fake and Vienna was a tramp. The only surprise is how did it last this long?
It lasted this long only because up until now, they have spent so little time together! DWTS and all the media attention filled a lot of their time.

No surprise! I knew they weren’t made for each other. I can believe that Jake likes the attention and unfortunately, Vienna’s past is interesting for a girl so young. Whatever makes people happy is what we are going to get. I am sure they would have lasted twice as long, had the public loved the couple.

Just my opinion …rumors of Jake wanting to be famous … not really sincere about finding a wife on TV … used as a springboard to other entertainment options … choose Vienna because he would get the least slack for “dumping” her when the show was over. He didn’t want to be another Jason and choose someone everyone liked and was sweet, too many reprecussions but “who could blame him” for breaking up with someone with so much baggage as Vienna — that was my thought when he picked her and when he broke up.
um, Meg, Rycroft was not someone ‘EVERYONE LIKED AND WAS SWEET.” Maybe you feel that way, but most f us are on to her and her phoniness now. She’s a complete fraud. Ask around in Dallas.
