DreamWorks Animation has snatched up the movie rights for the iconic Happy Troll Doll character, or more commonly known as “Troll dolls” or “Treasure Trolls,” according to Variety. DreamWorks Animation licensed the character from the Danish company Dam Things, and the studio has hired screenwriters Adam Wilson and Melanie Wilson LaBracio to write a script that’ll reportedly expand upon the Troll dolls’ mythology. The Troll dolls, which became an American toy fad in the 1960s, recently made a cameo appearance as train passengers during the opening action sequence of Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 3.

ugh…idk if i like the sound of this….
Will they be nude with manginas in the movie?
What the public really wants to know is: does any studio have a “Pet Rocks” movie in the works yet?
I don’t know but I hear ‘Slinky’ the movie has been green lit.
my vote goes to a crazy bones movie
How about Uno: The Movie?
Hollywood is bankrupt of ideas.
Not only is it pathetic that Hollywood has resorted to movies about toys, imagine how bad it’ll be a few years down the line, when all these toy movies get re-made (sorry, “re-imagined”). Audiences will walk out of theaters about 20 IQ points lower than when they walked in (and about $20 per ticket poorer, since all of these will undoubtedly be presented in 3-D, A.K.A. “Expensive-Vision.”)
SERIOUSLY????!!!! What’s next? A My Little Pony movie? That, I’d probably see though.
Honestly, I loved troll dolls growing up and I loved their cameos in the Toy Story movies (“The orphans!”) but I’m at a loss as to how they would make a full length movie about them. I say keep them the silent and adorably ugly dolls we’ve always known!
I’m waiting for “Revenge of the Monchhichis”
Really?!?! Come on! Hollywood does not need another horible movie!
The Troll cameos were perfect in the Toy Story movies…I feel like anything more would just seem forced.
Eventually, Hollywood’s gonna run out of classic toys to make into movies. What will they look to next for inspiration… candy bars? I imagine some executive somewhere is already planning “Snickers: The Motion Picture” (in 3-D, of course.)
I just saw Pinkberry: The Movie parody, and it’s like DreamWorks saw it and was like, huh, we can make a movie (in 3-D, of course) out of any random inanimate object with no real personality and take millions from the unsuspecting viewing public if only we advertise it flashily enough!
