The 15th annual Nantucket Film Festival came to a close yesterday, with documentarian Jennifer Arnold taking home top honors for A Small Act (HBO, July 16), the story of a Kenyan man who pays homage to the Swedish school teacher whose steady $15-a-month contributions enabled his education. Arnold further shared the Audience Award for Best Feature with Radu Mihaileanu’s The Concert, a comedy about a Russian conductor fired from the Bolshoi orchestra after refusing to fire his Jewish players. Tommy Butler’s Etopia script won Showtime’s Tony Cox Screenplay Competition for emerging writers.
