Today host Matt Lauer put allegations of a rumored split with his wife, former model Annette, to rest during an interview with People. “Have we had a completely perfect, easy marriage? No,” the television journalist told the publication from the Cannes Film Festival in France, where he’s been working for the NBC morning show. “But the stories you’ve read over the years are not true. I am living in my apartment with my children as a family and a couple. I have never moved out. I am not moving out. There is no truth to that.” Annette, who did briefly file for divorce in 2006, also spoke out, saying, “Out of self respect, I want to stand up for our family and protect them.” The couple have three children and have been married since 1998.

Dave Fisher, frontman of folk band Highwaymen, dies
Dave Fisher, 69, the lead singer of the 1960s collegiate folk band Highwaymen, died May 7 of a bone marrow disease at his home in Rye, N.Y., according to the AP. Fisher and four fellow Wesleyan University freshmen formed the group in 1958, and they released their biggest hit, “Michael,” three years later. The band broke up in 1964 but reunited in 1987 for a concert at their 25th college reunion, and have continued to perform about a dozen concerts per year. In addition to being Highwaymen’s lead singer, Fisher wrote nearly all of the group’s music. A memorial service is scheduled for June 13 at Clear View School in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.
LimeWire guilty of copyright infringement, says judge
The music industry just scored a huge victory against piracy on Tuesday, Reuters reports. U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood has ruled that peer-to-peer file sharing company LimeWire is guilty of “inducing copyright infringement, committed copyright infringement, and practiced unfair competition.” Wood also said that LimeWire’s move asking users to not infringe copyrights did “not constitute meaningful efforts to mitigate infringement.”
“This definitive ruling is an extraordinary victory for the entire creative community,” Recording Industry Association of America chairman & CEO Mitch Bainwol said in a statement. “Unlike other P2P (peer to peer) services that negotiated licenses, imposed filters or otherwise chose to discontinue their illegal conduct following the Supreme Court’s decision in the Grokster case, LimeWire instead thumbed its nose at the law and creators. The court’s decision is an important milestone in the creative community’s fight to reclaim the Internet as a platform for legitimate commerce.”
