'The Real World' being sued for $5 million

A woman filed a $5 million lawsuit against MTV for invasion of privacy, false light, disclosure of private facts, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress after making a recent appearance on an episode of the network’s The Real World: Washington D.C. Reuters reports Golzar Amirmotazedi alleges she was given several alcoholic beverages, then humiliated and thrown out of the house when she refused to have sex with one of the cast members.

All those appearing on the MTV show must sign a waiver, but Amirmotazedi claims she was too intoxicated to lawfully sign it. The complaint states: “Outtakes from the Real World… show that Plaintiff in fact was not in a position to provide her consent to Defendant portraying her in a false light or disclosing private facts about her.”

I guess I’m just surprised this didn’t happen sooner.

Ditto. They must be getting lazy – you really can’t get a waiver from a drunk girl.

Agreed. Sounds like she has a case to me.

Welcome to the real world. No sex and lawsuits everywhere!

This item in the first paragraph made me laugh: “disclosure of public facts”. Say what??? I imagine it’s an error and will be corrected before too long, but it still made me LOL.

I know! That threw me off too. I didn’t realize there was such a thing! lol.

The sex part, if true, is just horrible. But the part of being “given alcoholic beverages”, um, just because she was “given” alcohol doesn’t mean she had to drink it! Was she “forced” to drink herself into a drunken stupor?

Lalala I agree 100%! Alcohol could have been running from the faucets no one forced her to consume.

Doesn’t matter. You can sue a package store that sold beer to someone who then drove drunk and killed/injured someone based on our legal system’s rules.

I am a little embarrassed to admit that I did watch “Real World: DC.”
I actually remember this girl, because her name is so uncommon and the situation was really funny. She was at the house with a girlfriend of hers (who was hooking up with one of the roommates). Another roommate, Andrew, was keeping this girl occupied while her friend was being “classy” in a bedroom. She seemed pretty with it to me, she was making fun of Andrew’s girlfriend (who was there), and then left because it was an awkward situation. It didn’t look like anyone forced her to leave the bar and go into a camera-filled house, but hey what do I know?

Oh great! Another “client” for Gloria “Gloryhound” Allred!! *eye roll* I mean, seriously, has this person NEVER heard of/seen this show! That’s all the show has become – sex and alcohol. If you didn’t want to be seen, you shouldn’t have gone to the house! The cameras should have been a dead giveaway. Idiot.
