You don’t understand. What he’s trying to say is: “We all used to molest girls with stars in their eyes in Hollywood since its inception. I cannot believe i’m the only one getting prosecuted for something so second nature.”
Your comment is straight truth. How many young starlets actually got their big break/role for their acting ability… 10 maybe 15%. The rest… well, they paid a price. This “casting couch” game goes back to when pictures were first being made.
The “casting couch” is when someone offers another a role in exchange for sex. It’s either prostitution or a business deal, depending on your view. But it does involve consent, and people old enough to consent.
What Polanski did was to drug and rape a child. It wasn’t the “casting couch” or even close to it.
This guy is absolutely disgusting. I hope he rots in jail eventually, and then rots in hell!

Why doesn’t Polanksi just come back to the U.S. and serve his term? I mean, even though he pled guilty, he’ll only he’ll only have to serve a few years in prison– at most! I am an admirer of Polanksi’s work, but he raped and drugged a 13 year old. He should pay for his crime.
On another note, I can’t believe that in this day and age celebrities will actually speak out in his defense! It’s incredibly disgusting. The man may be a brilliant filmmaker, but he committed a heinous crime.

Whatever he did feels like AGES ago. Why didn’t they arrest them 30 years ago? Why did they decide to arrest him 30 years later? that’s stupidity at its best. He’s an amazing director, one of the best directors nowadays, he shouldn’t be arrested now.

I started to reply to this delusional idiot, but thought he/she must be a hideous troll, and let it go. You did an admirable job. I will correct one point, however: Polanski wasn’t *found* guilty, he *pled* guilty, i.e. he admitted his guilt. He fled in between the plea and sentencing.
He has to take his punishment. He had been flouting the law for decades. Debra Winger can cry all day, but a child rapist should be punished.

Roman Polanski has more than paid for his indiscretion. He’s already served well over a year in lockdown, both then and now. How long should someone serve for a 30 year old crime? Statutory rape? c’mon! He’s a holocaust survivor and his wife and unborn child were brutally slaughtered by the Manson family.. He has suffered more than most of us will ever know. Show some compassion.
