'Jon & Kate Plus 8' producers won't be charged for labor complaints
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry decided not to file charges against the producers of TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8, who were being investigated for violating child labor laws, People reports. The court mandated last month but made public today that from now on, the producers must secure child permits if they want to film the kids and that a percentage of profits must be placed in their trust fund. Kate’s brother and sister-in-law were due in court today to speak out against the show, while state lawmakers are reviewing child labor laws for film and TV. Jon tweeted: “The allegations made today by Kevin and Jodi Kreider have not been my experience at all during the production of Jon & Kate Plus 8.”

Walsh announced yesterday that she will star in the off-Broadway show Dusk Rings a Bell this May.
Jim Carrey responds to flap over Twitter posts
Jim Carrey, who received criticism for comments he made via Twitter about the Tiger Woods infidelity scandal, issued a statement in response to the flap. Carrey drew fire for suggesting that Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren, must have been aware of and condoned his extramarital affairs (“No wife is blind enough to miss that much infidelity… Elin had 2 b a willing participant on the ride 4 whatever reason. kids/lifestyle ;^”). In a statement issued through his representative, Carrey said, “To anyone whose grievances have chosen me as their cause, I would say first, that I recognize that tendency in myself, but if you knew me well, you’d see that your resentment has been misplaced. I wish every human being nothing but love and immeasurable happiness. Now, I’m going to re-enter the Twitter stream and see if there is anyone left to offend!” The actor has received a great deal of attention in recent weeks, both positive and not, for using Twitter to comment on his breakup with Jenny McCarthy and make a crack about being “sexually assaulted” by Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Eva Longoria Paker, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman issue statement in support of Marc Cherry
According to People, Eva Longoria Parker, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman have issued a joint statement backing Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry in the face of accusations made by former co-star Nicollette Sheridan in a lawsuit: “It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing,” the statement reads. “We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicollette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterize our set as a hostile environment. It is, in fact, the opposite…The friendships and support that Marc Cherry, the cast, the crew and the producers have shared for the past six years have made this a wonderful job that we are grateful for every day.”
Hatcher also complained about being singled out in Sheridan’s lawsuit, which said that Hatcher complained about Cherry to ABC executives, only to have Cherry say, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.” The actress, in a separate statement, said her inclusion was “unfortunate and inappropriate.” “While my adoration and respect for the classic and dynamic chemistry of the characters of Susan and Edie is indelible, I’m honored to stand with Eva, Felicity and Marcia, as a group and clarify that our set environment is nothing less than an amazingly positive experience. I have never felt discriminated against. In fact, I have felt heard and respected by Marc and other executives in regards to both my professional and personal needs.”
In her lawsuit, Sheridan claimed that Cherry hit her during an argument and subsequently let her go after she complained.

'Jersey Boys' sues rival show
Broadway hit Jersey Boys is suing a touring stage production called The Boys, claiming it’s a “copycat,” as Reuters reports. Jersey Boys has been telling the scrappy backstory of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons to packed Broadway audiences since 2005, while The Boys was created by former cast members to pay homage to, according to its website, “the music of an era that lights up every generation … from The Beach Boys to Motown … and of course … The Four Seasons!” The suit accuses The Boys of stealing its songs, texts, overall look, and marketing techniques, claiming copyright infringement. The show’s name is “confusingly similar” to the original, the claim says, and its similar-looking cast photos “a deliberate and willful attempt to create public confusion and foster the misimpression” that the two productions are related. The suit asks for an injunction against future performances as well as $150,000 in damages for each copyrighted song The Boys uses.
