Roman Polanski’s legal team is not happy with Thursday’s California court decision rejecting the director’s appeal to be sentenced for his 33-year-old unlawful sexual intercourse case in absentia. On Saturday, lawyer Herve Temime told Europe 1 radio, “One gets the feeling that there’s the desire to see him arrive in shackles, when there’s no reason why Roman Polanski should be extradited, none at all,” reports ABC News. The director has been living under house arrest in Switzerland. The Associated Press reports that the Swiss Justice Ministry had been waiting for the California decision before ruling if and when Polanski would be extradited back to the United States to face sentencing. U.S. prosecutors say the French-born Oscar-winner could spend up to two years in prison.
