Box office futures exchange hits snag

Cantor Fitzgerald’s plans to create a futures trading market for films was just hit by a big setback, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Senate Agriculture Committee passed a bill on Wednesday containing a provision that would ban trading based on box office. This blow comes less than a week after Cantor Fitzgerald’s proposed exchange was approved by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
