This is exactly what happened after License To Kill back in 89′. They had a new script ready to go with Timothy Dalton but UA got into huge financial problems.

I have “Licence to Kill” (Notice the British spelling), on DVD. During the closing credit roll, the commentators note the dark, brooding nature of Dalton’s Bond. They also state that they decided after LTK they to take time off to get Brosnan on board. Granted, this could have been a smokescreen for UA’s financial trouble as MN wrote. On another note, after Lazenby decided not to do another Bond, the producers had signed the American actor, John Gavin to play Bond. They had second thoughts and lured Connery back for one more film before they got Moore. John Gavin was paid a reported $1 million to break his contract, not bad!

I don’t care for Craig as Bond.
I saw his first portrayal in Casino Royale and that was enough for me. He bored me to death.

Connery and Moore are the best Bond’s. They owned the role.
I liked Brosnan as the next generation Bond. I couldn’t stand Dalton, and don’t like Craig either.

For me, the series started to go downhill when Casino Royale (2006) (James Bond’s first adventure) was set in the present day, meaning it could not be a prequel to Dr. No (1962). I liked the series better when they were loosely connected. I don’t care if there is a Bond 23 or not. Time for 007 to retire.

    4/20 is ridiculous.

I don’t think any movie series that is 1 Billion plus and over 40 years old with actors such as Connery, Brosnan, and Craig is overrated. Certainly with that many movies every one can’t be a super hit, but you have to appreciate James Bond. He’s the only action hero of his type thats had this much success.

Don’t blame Roger Moore. He did not write the scripts. It is a wonder that the series survived such bad writing.

  • nick

grew up watching Roger Moore as bond!
loved all of his movies but always thought “The Man With The Golden Gun” was produced before “Live & Let Die” ’cause “The Man…” did not live up to a new bond movie!

    as for the favorite bonds
Moore, Connory, Lazenby, Brosnan, Dalton then Craig

    fav. movie of all “Goldfinger”

I believe Connery and then craig are one and two. But since they are different as well I would also say each one is number one with their own style of bond. And Lazenby did not actually quit, he and his co-star diana riggs gave the director and producers so much grief they swore they would never cast them again….and they didn’t. Lazenby would eat onions for example before his kissing scenes with riggs…lol.

When will be getting the rest of the Bond movies in Blu-Ray

Sean Connery is the classic Bond that everyone adores. Pierce Brosnan definitely the ultimate Bond that combines the macho with the quick witted humour. Craig the worse Bond in my opnion. Nothing classic about him, but a great action figure that James Bond is not. BROSNAN my BEST BOND.

  • RJM

Here is the correct order from Best to worst: Connery, Craig, Brosnon, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton.

  • ikhis

I have seen all the bond movies.
The correct order from best to worst should be
    Connery, Brosnan,craig,Moore, Lazenby, dalton.
Best Bond Movies: Thunderball and Casino Royale
