Eva Longoria Paker, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman issue statement in support of Marc Cherry

According to People, Eva Longoria Parker, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman have issued a joint statement backing Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry in the face of accusations made by former co-star Nicollette Sheridan in a lawsuit: “It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing,” the statement reads. “We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicollette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterize our set as a hostile environment. It is, in fact, the opposite…The friendships and support that Marc Cherry, the cast, the crew and the producers have shared for the past six years have made this a wonderful job that we are grateful for every day.”

Hatcher also complained about being singled out in Sheridan’s lawsuit, which said that Hatcher complained about Cherry to ABC executives, only to have Cherry say, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.” The actress, in a separate statement, said her inclusion was “unfortunate and inappropriate.” “While my adoration and respect for the classic and dynamic chemistry of the characters of Susan and Edie is indelible, I’m honored to stand with Eva, Felicity and Marcia, as a group and clarify that our set environment is nothing less than an amazingly positive experience. I have never felt discriminated against. In fact, I have felt heard and respected by Marc and other executives in regards to both my professional and personal needs.”

In her lawsuit, Sheridan claimed that Cherry hit her during an argument and subsequently let her go after she complained.

sounds like they’re trying to keep their jobs

    • Brian

      CYNICAL

    • DeniseR

      Exactly my reaction to this.

    • Rachel M

I had same thought. None of these women want to be fired either. So of course they are gonna back the shows creator. DUH!!

    • LOL

The old queen slapped Sheridan around and now the rest fear for their jobs? Not really as crazy as it might sound.

    • Ya think?

      No doubt!

    • Veracity

That and they don’t want to get slapped!

    • SirLizard

Yeah, right, like Marc Cherry would be able to fire all of them. If they all united and said that their workplace was hostile, there is nothing that Marc Cherry or anyone else could do to them. They’re probably all ready for the series to end anyway.

  • Nerwen Aldarion

Interesting, I was curious as to what Hatcher would say to Sheridan’s statement.

    • maggie

Interesting that Hatcher didn’t deny what Sheridan said about Hatcher going to ABC executives to complain about Cherry.

      • bringbackrocky

I believe that’s what referred to as a non-denial denial. You can either say something did or didn’t happen, or you can take the safe route. That’s what they all did.

  • Ed

Marc Cherry probably threatened to beat them up unless they supported him.

    • Tim

Isn’t he like old and fat? Last time I saw a pic of him he was.

I’d have figured Nic could take him down. Any of the other girls too.

  • Danny

Kinda surprised at all the blind love for Sheridan. This has come completely out of nowhere from a cast member who was written out of the show. How on earth can people decide that now four professional women are all desperate to keep their jobs? If Nicolette started this on her own and it were true, I have a feeling the other women would be compelled to side with the victim–as women and as professional actors.

I’ve tried to wait to see until more evidence has come in, but every time I’m on here people are suddenly convinced Cherry is a monster. Interesting.

    • Nerwen Aldarion

I’m not convinced of anything, I’d rather hear some evidence as opposed to just statements. Of course I haven’t watched Desperate Housewives in years so it really doesn’t affect me anyways

      • SueN

It doesn’t affect any of us, even if we watch the show, but this is an entertainment magazine, hence the comments.

    • Bebe

“If Nicolette started this on her own and it were true, I have a feeling the other women would be compelled to side with the victim–as women and as professional actors.”

You’re kidding, right? This is Hollywood, darling. It’s every ho for herself. They’re not going to support Nicolette if it endangers their jobs!

  • Hernan Giaggio

Is Marc Cherry related to Darryl Strawberry?

    • lois

      or Jack Lemmon?

      • glamzon

        …..or Halle Berry?

      • Lala

        Or Fiona Apple?

      • Matt

        … or Eminem?

      • Suze

        …or Chiquita Banana?

  • bunker

I wonder what kind of gun Cherry used to hold to their heads?

  • mark

Well this goes to show you that Nicolette Sheridan is out of her mind, actresses are let go all th etime from soaps, if she got another job quickly she never would have done this, she just cant find work because it is probably known in hollywood she is crazy.

    • Nerwen Aldarion

Just like I don’t think we should automatically believe Sheridan, I don’t think we should automatically assume that Cherry is innocent either. I also don’t think it was ever called for to say Sheridan was “crazy”

    • maggie

“she just cant find work because it is probably known in hollywood she is crazy.”

I’ve never heard Sheridan called crazy, and I think that it is wrong for you to make that assumption. She is probably having a hard time finding a job because she’s middle-aged, and there aren’t really that many jobs in hollywood for women her age. That’s why DH is a godsend for the other middle-aged actresses on DH. Any of them would have a hard time finding a new job due to their ages.

      • Yes

I would say that if Felicity Huffman wasn’t involved. Felicity could get a job anytime I believe. She is an excellent actress who could do much better than this show.

  • Miki Miki

Let’s see…Marc Cherry is the boss, they want to continue working…yeah, that’s it…Desperate Housewife’s set is the best in the world, every thing is the best it could possibly be, we are one big happy family and poor Nicolette is outta her mind…yep that’s it

    • Agustin

      Exactly my point too!

  • jimbo

Whatever the truth, it’s choreographed press releases that’ll get us to the bottom of it! Not. Put it alongside fake late-night talk show anecdotes and Oprah’s reviews her guests’ movies as things that can be ignored out of hand.

  • john

“sounds like they’re trying to keep their jobs”
Yeah, because if they didn’t make this statement to people magazine they will all be written off the show. Also, since when are Eva Longoria Parker, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman in dire need of work?

    • Sara

Since 5-10 years before the show started. What other roles do you see them playing?

    • maggie

They really don’t have big careers outside of DH.

      • Mike

Felicity Huffman was nominated for an Oscar.

      • Sara

Wrong Mike, it was a Golden Globe.

      • Bumbles

No Sara, you are wrong. She was nominated in 2006 for both a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Actress in the moview Transamerica. She won the Golden Globe but not the Oscar.

  • Jed

Talk about butt kissing in the largest way possible…can ABC do us all a favor and cancel this garbage after next season?

  • Sara

“I am honored to stand with Eva, Felicity, and Marcia as a group..” OH LORD, Teri Hatcher. I hope you never work again when this pit of a show is canceled. (Or when your body falls apart like Death Becomes Her.)

    • Tom

LOL! Now, THAT is a storyline they should do on the otherwise awful sinking ship DH.

  • Rachel M

I stopped watching this show after season 2. it just became really stupid.

  • Chris

Didn’t Eva say on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show that she was aware something went down between Sheridan and Cherry? So why did she agree to a statement where it says she has no first hand knowledge of anything happening? I would suppose she had to hear about it from someone with inside information. Sounds fishy to me.

    • Me

Yes, Eva did say something happened between Sheridan and Cherry.

  • Kathi

Of course the wives are on Mark Cherry’s side…HE IS THEIR FLIPPIN BOSS
